Just caught this series of posts.

Where, if I may ask, did you get your MX2A browns? I would like to get some samples from fresh molds.

I got this batch from Dangkeebs during their BF/CM sale. Cherry MX2A Brown Switches.

Thatā€™s discouraging news. Iā€™ll have to check the black JWICKā€™s I have before I use them (never mounted though). Have you had any problems with JWK proper switches? Thankfully I havenā€™t had any issues so far.

On a similar note, I have a friend who had more than half of his Gateron [Holy] Panda Xā€™s consistently chatter on him after only a year of use. I was really surprised by that one.

I have a few boards with JWK switches. No issues yet :crossed_fingers:

To add to this surprising switch events, I recently had a full batch of Drop Holy Panda X switches that did not fit into two different plates (aluminium and POM) on two different keyboards. Drop took them back and refunded me.

Alright, who of you used Jades on the Shinkansen for keyboard noise to be explicitly mentioned?

Iā€™m in Japan now, but I swear I left my many Jades and Navies and buckling springs at home!

They may have known I was coming, though. :joy:

ā€œOk. FINE. Iā€™ll turn the solenoid off.ā€

Iā€™m still absolutely floored by the difference in how I perceive a switch with and without headphones on. Floored. Perhaps I have no idea what switch I like the press feel of, hmmā€¦

If you havenā€™t tried it, I highly recommend.

Absolutely a real phenomenon. This happens quite a bit to me, especially with tactiles which can have a varying degree of leaf noise. Iā€™ve gone from dislike to love with headphones. Iā€™ve also noticed this happening with a whole keyboard build.

Maybe something else to ponder over is typing speed when your are enjoying a switch/keyboard (the headphone bias is really a good test case for this).

I first noticed this with TTC Bluish Whites. I loved them on the tester right next to other switches not really ā€œtypingā€ but just the feel, etc. Then I soldered them into a board and just hated typing on it. Put some noise canceling headphones to listen to music while I worked and I suddenly liked them again.

YES FINALLY, AEBoardā€™s EC & HE switches are finally out and Omnitype is NAā€™s vendor for them currently. KBDFans, Prototypist, and Keebz n Cables are the other vendors in case you were interested.

Are there any projects that are using the EC switches yet?

My guess is that the hidden collabs that will work with AEBoardā€™s new switches are the new EC PCB CannonKeys released last month and the Bakeneko HE PCB (Currently only IC). Obviously the HE switches can work with any HE boards out there currently, but for the EC we have to wait for something like CannonKeys to make a compatible plate for the EC60X (which they have confirmed is in the works).

Isnā€™t the new Kbdfans board, Agar, using these too? Granted with the EC kit which also already comes with the switches.

Oh yea forgot about that Agar board, I remember seeing it had an EC kit. Yea you might be able to just drop in and use the AEBoard switches with it by the looks of it.

Well thatā€™s pretty frickenā€™ cool.

Almost all of my boards are better with headphones because I canā€™t hear my poorly tuned stabs.

Thatā€™s one of my favorite things about the ergo boards I typically use. No stabilizers.
