I really like UHMs & I paid full price for them. At the price Divinikey has them right now theyāre an absolute steal IMHO. Iām gonna have to grab some more before they sell out, LOL!
New keycap set when?
I also definitely appreciate the āwhen do you move up?ā conundrum from the video.
LOL yeah I guess you have a point. That said, I am gonna need a lavender F-row in⦠what? MOG?
I am feeling very smug at having successfully moved the goalposts.
These are not quite RAMA Kate keycaps, but theyāre not far off, either. First Iāve seen them at the big A.

That certainly is a bit
What does āDouble Shot Dye-sublimation Processā mean? The text goes on to say āAdvanced dye-sublimation technology allows the color to penetrate into the keycapsā, but the images seem to show something that appears to be double-shot.
It would absolutely not surprise me if these are the product of that first attempt RAMA made with Mastars - theyāve even got the signature āXā and āOā keys.
Iāve seen what Iām pretty sure are these same keys shipping on Chinese prebuilt keyboards for years, and it wouldnāt surprise me at all if both examples represent the manufacturer recouping their expenses from the endeavor.
While zFrontier has said theyāve taken-over custody of the KATE / CAPS project, Iām not sure itāll ever see the light of day in the end - so these may very well be the closest weāll see to the caps we ordered all those years ago.
Iāve seen that a few times. I suspect that whoever is tasked with writing copy is just told to make them sound like expensive keycaps, and, whelp, thereās two different ways that expensive keycaps get their legends, soā¦
Iām sure thatās true in this case - though I did hear that Keyreative has started doing a combination process where they double-shot PBT and then dye-sub part of the first shot for multiple legend colors.
EZmate connectors⦠Theyāre kinda stupid compared to good oleā JST SH. The height difference is minimal & the connection itself is kinda questionable. Instead of sliding into the header like JST, you have to line up the part on the cable with itās header then press it down into the header. It has a very tenuous grip when installed in the header making it extremely easy to have the wire disconnect from the DB. I just donāt see any advantages over JST SH, especially considering EZmate is rated for only 10 mating cycles.
ā¦10 cycles?!
Yep after 10 cycles the connection becomes looser & more prone to coming apart since itās just a friction fit. I mean Iām sure it has itās uses with much smaller electronics, but just dumb for KBs IMO.
Yeah I can achieve 10 cycles just from my OCD of āBut is it really securely connected? Dunno, better unplug and reseat it to be sure.ā
I like flat ribbon cables and their connectors are similarly slim. But I donāt like how they are inflexible and need to be folded to stay in place
Thatās one of the major reasons I wonāt buy any modern CannonKeys boards.
Yeah I donāt get why they like EZ mate so much. The funny this is their Brutal & Brutal V2 line up used either on PCB USB or JST on both ends. All their stuff higher end than that though is EZ mate I believe.
Idk if these are āgoodā reasons but possible explanations - 1) slightly lower space requirements allow a board to be designed differently and, most importantly, 2) people bend pins and mess up JSTs all the time which is a lot harder to do with EZmate
Agreed, those are things that EZmate has over JST for sure. I just find the super low 10 cycles of connecting/disconnecting for EZmate kinda nerfs any & all advantages it provides.
No disagreement here, just speculating having seen some absolutely wrecked JSTs in the past
