Hereās a little room freshening spray.
When the keycap kitting is close, but not quite close enough for your keyboard layout
- Keyboard: Neo98
- Keycaps: MT3 Skiidata
And yes, Iām going to fix this. I just donāt know how yet.

I have a 75% with MT3 Dusk where my Delete key is PRT SCR. Just couldnāt find the perfect R5 cap.
Yeah, Iāve got some keys I could likely replace all three of these with, but Iām going to piece together this layout with a couple different sets and hope one of them will have the keys, at the row I need them in.
It looks like I didnāt order the āHobbyist Kitā when I got this set ages ago and that probably would have had at least some of what I need.

I got my DCX topaz caps the other day for dirt cheap. Theyāre beautiful. I hadnāt used my Devastating TKL in a long time so I put them on it.
Hereās the āhmmmā though. This is a painted white PC case. Look at the top close
So weird! Itās been in a storage case for about a year since I last messed with it. I canāt feel the cracks. Itās smooth. So, win? Cool one of a kind finish?
Only like this on the top and only on the right hand side. I emailed support but itās 3 years old. Hmmm
If this were a guitar, youād pay extra for this ārelicāedā custom shop finish.
Well I heard back from Cannonkeys. They said I could sand blast or hand sand the case, polish it, and repaint with a paint for polycarbonate. Not sure what I expected ![]()
lulz.
Still, disappointing to have a finish failing after only three years. Unless youāve started storing all your boards uncased in a pile on your attic floorboards⦠this seems like a manufacturing failure.
I appreciate a ton of things CK did for the hobby, but at the same time I donāt think I trust ordering anything from them.
I feel like a lot of their stuff is over designed and over engineered as well.
Your DevastatingTKL is PC? I didnāt know there was a PC variant of that board ever.
Yep! Itās a fun board. Sounds great, feels nice and sturdy but light. I was kinda hoping they had some extra tops of some variety laying around. Guess not.
Yeah, PC surprised me, but I never entirely caught the difference between the Bastion and the Devastating TKLs. The one Iāve got is definitely anodized aluminum (but also was on clearance).
IIRC, the PCB is h87 form factor, so in theory you should be able to get another case for it thatās not soā¦weathered.
The Tiger Lite gaming is the last case I remember that was compatible there, but no idea if itās available any more.
I feel like attaching a āthis message might be dangerousā warning to every keyboard-related email I receive would actually protect my walletā¦
This looks like a neat switch - but what stood out to me were the little red dampeners in the housings, acting almost like films between them. They look a lot like the ones from Duck switches - glad to see that minor innovation freed from exclusivity.
Gateron Deeping switches were the first ones I remember to use the dampeners from the Duck design.
These new ones from Swagkeys donāt list their travel distance. Deeping sounded good but always felt a bit too short for me.
I wonder how those spacers affect the sound compared to standard films?
I liked the sound of deepings. They sound like a filmed switch. What I donāt like was the spring and travel length. Something is just off with the switch feel when you type for any length of time.
I need to try some different length springs. That may do the trick. Sometimes I find that I prefer more traditional, shorter springs for long typing. Long snappy springs can be fun for gaming though.
Some madlad on Reddit managed to use a GMMK Pro PCB for an Alps conversion. Seems that thereās physically enough room for the pins if you desolder the hotswap sockets.
