Been playing lots of tiny tinas wonderland, pretty good game if you like the borderlands series or looter shooters
CONTROL
I figured Iād enjoy the vibe from reading about it, but Iām having more fun with it than I expected. If you enjoy gubmint conspiracies and stuff like the SCP Foundation, youāll probably get a kick out of the aesthetic at least.
Gameplay-wise, itās a third-person shooter Metroidvania - which is to say abilities and keys you pick up along the way open up new paths in a sprawling complex and thereās plenty of gun stuff. Itās at least as much about the story and spooky government conspiracy vibes as the combat, though - so if youāre here for some hardcore test-your-mettle stuff you might have more fun elsewhere. For me, though - this hits the sweet spot.
Itās even full of old keyboards!
A couple more images and a video in the Keyboards Spotting thread.
Control is one of my top 5 games of the last decade. I just adore the David Lynch vibes.
Have you seen Golden Light? Itās a little more in the Eraserhead direction;
Wow, that looks wild. Iām generally not into the survival genre - though Valheim was certainly a revelation for me in that regard - Golden Light just looks insane! Iāll add it to my wishlist on Steam. Thanks for the rec!
Iām not very far into the game - I just play 2-3 rounds a day⦠I donāt have all that great of luck with my power ups / leveling up. Then again, Iāve only been able to buy a few power ups.
I have been wanting to checkout out this game! I need to look into what platforms it is available on. I think only Steam for now.
Yeah, I got it on Steam. Itās fun⦠Iād really like to find the time to sit down and do some serious grinding on it⦠It really looks almost insane when you start to get to the upper levels.
Tangentially related, but I recently completed a comic series known as MIND MGMT which you might enjoy too. Also about secret government agencies and conspiracies
if you have the horsepower to run it, the ray tracing is amazing
After getting the platinum trophy in Elden Ring I decided itās time to slay my ultimate beast. And that is getting the platinum in Sekiro.
My first playthrough a few years ago I didnāt even attempt Demon of Hatred, and spent an entire Sunday from 9am to 11pm throwing myself at Isshin until I finally beat his ass.
So thatās that Iāve been playing. Playthrough #2. Just took down Father Owl tonight. What a fight.
Good 'ol Morrowind on a dirty membrane keyboard. Just like the old days of the early 2000s. And if the planks on the prisoner ship wonāt squeak through the office monitor speakers, my plastic board sure will fill their gap during the twelve second tutorial.
Iām not actually playing this today, but thereās a track named after it on a synthwave album Iāve been listening to that reminded me of it, and I had to share. The game itself is pretty meh at best; a mixture of Simon Says and chasing monsters with your d-pad; but the intro⦠well. I think itās amazing. Perhaps legendary.
Warning: XTREME campy mid-90ās 'tude complete with ultra-crunchy Full Motion Video:
perfection
Animal Crossing: New Horizons with my 4-y-o and dabbling in Neon White on PC (not with my 4-y-o)
My four year old and I had a great time with Kirby and the Forgotten Land. There is a second player that is basically invisible. Granted they donāt get the Kirby powers, but it was nice for the brief periods when she was actually paying attention and wanted to play.
Been playing Multiversus. Itās been pretty fun
Oh, Iāll look into it. Does she need to be able to use buttons and stick at the same time? My daughter can do one or the other currently.
I had a Saturn but never had Sewer Shark. So sad I sold that thing, though the proceeds probably did partly finance my first PC build.
Oh WOOPS that was Sega CD wasnāt it. Well, that too. Not sad I sold that one tho tbh.
That is how my kid plays too, shouldnāt be an issue. Our game was mostly her goofing around while I dragged her along. Second player ārubber-bandsā to where ever the first player is if they get separated.
Man, I never had a Sega CD system, but this sure brings back memories of early PC games back in the 90s on CD. Big nostalgia here.
