Right. That makes sense. People are raving about them on Discord.
Maybe they will make a clicky option, since the others seem to be doing well.
I’d like to see them try a lighter tactile.
One thing I have to say about these switches is that the wobble is nothing special. I have them beside Pewter, and Pewter’s wobble is less both in N-S and E-W [especially E-W].
for the idiots out there (not me… just other people who might not know), do you mean adding a hard-boiled egg? Or adding a raw egg and cooking it in the broth
Raw egg added to the broth. Never been a fan of hard boiled eggs in my ramen cause I hate the yolk. Whenever I eat ramen at a restaurant I usually just eat the hard boiled egg like normal or something. Also extra bamboo shoots is key for me.
The usual way I make instant ramen is soup packet first, then 2 eggs, then once the mixture is like 80% to boiled I add the noodles, bring the whole shit to a boil, flip the noodles, then add like green onion and/or shredded seaweed on top. I like a firmer noodle so that’s why I do the noodles last.
Edit: Adding 2 eggs usually sucks up the water so adjust accordingly.
Edit: Me trying to slurp:
thx! I will give that shot. I’ve been trying to cool it on ramen lately cuz I need to cut down on my salt intake but I’m looking forward to trying that
IIRC Akko’s switches are made by KTT, whose own switches have been getting a pretty warm reception.
I like the Lightwave V2’s so far - a bit of play/wobble, but they’re quite smooth and have a satisfying, if a bit dry typing sound. I bet they’d be proper skates with some nice oil.
Got in two sets of Matias stabilizers to use when I build my 60% ALPS setup to go with Tai-Hao Tomcat. Also grabbed a Matias switch tester just to see how much they improved since last time I tried them. I heard they worked out the kinks of chattering issues from early batches, so I may need to give them a go soon. Then I also got a Kyokuchi Kenbran Death (SHI) in monochrome in today too. Very cool cap, made well, but OEM height unfortunately. Still I really love the cap’s simple design so it’s another nice addition to collection
DHL dropped these off while I was removing dead battery from my mom’s car that’s been sitting in the garage for a year. They’re Cherry MX Black Hyperglides from SwagKeys.com.
They’re smoother than I expected as-is so they may be from early stocks. I’m still going to polish a few and compare with stock to see if the difference is worth polishing for. Checked more switches and, yup, they could benefit from polishing.
Sorry, “Cryptid” was a bit obtuse. The keyboard name is the Jabberwocky and this is just a prototype at this point. They’re not released just yet. I need to get this built so I can give any feedback to the maker.
Another round of MT3 WOB to replace the set claimed by stem-breaker b[ + ]xes.
Edit: So I’ve gone through a few of these, installing them on a customer’s board and two of mine (originally going for three but gave up after 3 RMA attempts on the BOW set) - there’s most often an issue with the “S” key among others, for some reason.
This time it’s a little fleck of embedded white plastic with a small divot around it; tiny but stands out from every angle unless obscured by specular shine on the black plastic around it, like in the photo above.
I’m going to take a shot at seeing if they’ll replace this one key by appealing to shipping cost - they’ve already paid for eight trips for sets they ultimately didn’t profit on, hey maybe sticking a single key in a padded envelope would look attractive at that point.
(I mean hey, at least they’ve replaced all the bad sets so far, and refunded me for the one I got tired of trying to replace. They’ve graduated from “quite bad” to “basic minimum”)
For all the crap I give Signature Plastics about their (lack of) packaging, their customer service has been pretty killer. I had a warped spacebar a few years ago, and they just sent me a new one, no problem. Didn’t even ask for a photo, like, “oh yeah I think we have an extra couple of those around let me send you one!”
– I literally cannot imagine Dorp doing that.
But hey I’ll tell you if they do - ha!
I guess it helps when customer service is just around the corner from the injection presses, like I imagine is the case at SP.
In the mean-time… this plays in my mind as I wait for Dorp to offer the ABC options…
