Hakko conical soldering tip and a DIY USB-A to USB-C cable kit. I will be trying to make my own USB cable for use with my AV3 which can’t use USB cables with large port housings. Should be very interesting given my soldering skill level.
From my perspective, the new trays are barely sufficient for shipment,
AH! I think now I get what you meant.
I got a set of FAKE “MDA” keycaps
Melgeek has kept the MDA profile pretty much locked down since they introduced it, so I was pretty excited when I started to see generic “MDA” keycaps popping up on Amazon and Aliexpress.
However, these are not MDA profile. They are actually lower profile (almost identical to Cherry in height) and have less surface area than MDA.
So they are MDA in name-only, but are still actually very pleasant. Particularly the low profile.
FAKE MDA vs. real MDA
FAKE MDA vs. Cherry Blumen
It’s a neat looking profile - they should give it a name of its own!
Also I’d love to get my hands on a darker MDA set - that one in your photo isn’t still available anywhere, is it?
The darker MDA keycaps are only available from the Melgeek website and you don’t even get full kitting.

I’d like to think KBDFans is having a laugh with all this Comic Sans shenanigannery.
Hey @iaman, do you happen to have a photo of the Cerulean switch stem? I know you are great about typically providing these.
I recently came across - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001743322415.html , which appear to be straight up Zeal V1s. Someone was telling me the Cerulean switch was the same, just with a different housing.
I was just looking for a stem pic to help confirm. Thanks!
Fake MDA looks more comfortable than original MDA to me. Cylindrical. Where can I find them?
Thx for the link!. My search came up empty. JDA seemed closes but this looked more rounded, comfy looking.
Snagged a @peejeh Lumberjack extra :). I have a great project to look forward to now, and boy this blue is lovely!
Varmillo was full on comic sans for a while. I had a good chuckle every time I looked at the bottom of my TKL.
Oh wow, this is not unlike what I’m experimenting with. It’s good that it’s out there for people who prefer alternatives to Cherry. I’m persuing low profile full spherical tops, keep you posted.
Diamond UHMWPE linears from bespoke.keys - complete with a great sticker design from @Seo_bun
Edit: Holy wow, these are quite good. In-hand first impressions were positive, with a very slight slip-stick feeling on very off-center movement - but in a tester with keycaps on them they basically feel amazing. I can make the slip-stick thing happen if I try - but with normal use they’re just super smooth and have a great bottom-out feel.
I did not expect to like these even more than the Hippos… but so far I totally do. Both switches ship totally dry, and both feel surprisingly good in that state - but the Diamonds are taking the cake unless I’m missing something. I’ll have a full review of some kind out at some point, but my first impression of the Diamond Linears is very positive, indeed.
And to think, I never would have even bought these if not for the rad sticker.
I’m switching jobs (I start at my new job next week) and got my final checks today. It’s the same company but a different district so they had to cash out my 280 hours of PTO…
So give me your best GBs…
.> totally not planning on doing something like that now. I was planning on leaving mine blank but those look much nicer (also ignore the mx blue label, I forgot to erase it since it now has all my extra panda switches)
Quick comparison:
The Cerulean and Medium Tactile stems look pretty identical to me. As for comparison notes to Zeal V1s:
Overall, on the stem itself, it looks to me like the V1 Zealio stem has slightly less of a bump (which is to say “the peak of the bump is less deviated from the straight line between the tip of the legs and where they join the main stem body”) and there seems to be slightly more of a dip in the initial pretravel section of the stem (between the tip and the bump), but otherwise position and sharpness of the bump look fairly identical.
However, the leaf on JWK medium tactiles is fairly weak (not linear, but certainly not as strong as a Zeal/Boba/T1 leaf) while the leaf on the Zeal V1s is fairly strong, which leads to a pretty similar pushfeel between the switches.
