I figured since I spent so much money on the anti vibration mat and the roof, I might as well get matching batteries for my HHKB…

Got some blue creams (NK Launch edition) and the lighter Wild TTC switches.

Blue creams definitely still need filming like the OG.

I got the 42g wild switches b/c the 55g felt a bit too heavy. Unfortunately, the 42g are a bit too light. Need something in between

Stem to stem push test with some cherry reds shows the TTC Wild 42g to be quite a bit lighter than the Cherry reds. Probably closer to a 40g at top and 50g bottom out.

  • 200 Matias Quiet Click (wish they offered smaller packs).
  • 2 sets of ALPS stabs

If their force curve graph is accurate, 36g at the top and 52g bottom out. I am waiting for mine to arrive tomorrow :slightly_smiling_face:

Now that is the level of obsession to detail that I am looking for in an enthusiast community

Epsilon full nylon switches from Prevail

These are made by JWK. The stem material is a mystery. The website says:

mystery material stem from their POM linear switches

It’s slightly opaque and almost feels like uhmwpe to me.
EDIT – I just realized these are the same stems as the Piano black POM switches. Makes sense b/c those are long stems as well. In theory, you could but the Piano Black stems into lavender housings and have the same switch. The difference is that these feature a progressive spring.

Pros:

  • Very smooth stock
  • Nylon offers a nice soft sound (enhanced even more if you lube)

Cons:

  • Quite a bit of wobble. Similar to Gateron wobble. Most noticeable on taller caps like SA and MT3.

Of note:

  • Slightly reduced travel due to extended stem pole (even though it’s not mentioned in the product description)
  • Some tops might make noise without films. I’ll probably film mine to avoid any surprise creaks after soldering.

I’ll definitely build something with them because I love the softer feel.

What’s cooler than a free keeb tee? Three of 'em!

Also, some Techno Violet switches from Bolsa; long-pole Nylon linears.

I can’t wait to see what combination of free shirts we all got :joy:

Nice! Let me know how you like the Techno Violets! The crossover of two of my interests was going to be hard to resist.

Dammit.

Im spoiled by the TTC switches now when it comes to MT3. Hardly any wobble at all throughout the keypress. I wish they would make nylon housings.

I’m liking them so far, though I’m trying them dry first - firstly because I’m impatient and secondly for science… yeah…

They’ve got a nice snappy clacky sound, I like the springs, yeah - these are pretty cool so far.

Yup. As soon as I heard serious wobble, I knew it wasn’t for me. The plasticky smack it makes as it rattles the keycap at the end of the upstroke really grinds my gears.

I literally took ThereminGoat’s spreadsheet and sorted it by wobble in descending order, then began systematically buying them without any due process of sanity. No regrets.

Any personal favorites from that list?

From the spreadsheet, the Star Grey’s and Lavenders for sure.

But for me, the Cobalt POM’s tolerances are amazingly impressive. They’re long poles, but the proper springs can help sharpen or soften bottoming out.

Two-stage 52g is a good weight for me. I am still deciding between these and Momoka Frogs(with 53g two-stage spring) to be put on a board. I found frogs are more addictive to type on because of that gentle bottom-out feel. But the non-standard actuation and travel distance on frogs is something I don’t know if I want to get used to.

Definitely agree. I really wish TTC would make something with a bit of a softer feel. Perhaps a nylon housing or a slider made from something different.
