I got my J-01 today too! DHL still says delivery is scheduled for next Monday, lol.

The mini 3D-printed J-01 that came with it is an unexpected little add-in but I love it.

Can you use the little one for something?
The only one I know who could use a board that small is @deshipu
Now, I will have you know that there are whole communities dedicated to 34-key keyboards out there. There are dozens of us! DOZENS!
Those keycaps look really fun to type on. I donāt know anything about this board. What are the switches like?
The closest switch it reminds me of are MX Blacks, but scratchier and more inconsistent. Plus, some of the stabilized keys squeak. They also feel like they have progressive springs. Theyāre quite unremarkable to be honest.
Might be the first time Iāve opened a plain cardboard box and said, āWhoa,ā aloud at what was in it. Itās a zipper-shell case. And itās big.
Okay, thatās pretty frigginā cool.
what color did you get?
E-white, with one of the hazy white pcbās and a brass plate and wedge.
Iām in the process of a long move so itāll be a while before I build it - really looking forward to digging into the project.
Itās a 65% but that case is one chonky boy - Portico for scale:
Very nice. I built my e-white with bobas. I used an original discipline 65 PCB. Itās a fun project and a very nice board to type on.
FYI: Fitting that acrylic window is not a simple feat. Make sure you read the build guide as you go. Also, it may look like it wonāt fit, with a bow, but itās intentionally slightly oversized to provide a tight fit when closed up. (I was sure mine was defective but I kept going and sure enough, it worked out)
Iām leaning towards Bobas as well for the p.02.
So I got a package today labeled ātime sensitive materialā - I had no clue what it could be but it was definitely keeb shaped. I chuckled aloud when I opened the bag;
Consecutively, I got in the mail the most and least expensive keebs Iāve ever bought.
Juxtaposition
good tester board
After my friendās Miya Pro shipment was delayed a third or fourth time, he picked the Magicforce | smart 2 as a replacement.
The metal top plate offers possibilities for finishes, and in this case heās going with gloss battleship grey. Iām trying to decide if I want to paint or dye the bottom.
If thereās room inside, Iāll be installing iron weights along with other tuning goodies. Iāll be replacing Gateron Greens with Boba U4s and giving the stabs lots of love.
These have over-switch through-hole LEDs, so plenty of FR-301 brrrr in this keebās near future.
Last but not least, friendo chose MT3 Susuwatari to top-off his new office keeb. I think this is going to be a fun one.
Iād describe the current sound profile as ācrunch, rattle, and pingā - but Iāll be going for a muted, thump-y whisper.
Very nice. Italic legends are so great.
damn, what a throwback. magicforces used to be one of the most popular boards some years ago. how times have changed. i wonder how good they are now with modern mods.
I know! Iām getting a kick out of working one after seeing all the old posts.
This new version has USBC and Bluetooth, which is definitely nice. I intend to make at least a short video detailing the modding process and documenting the before and after.
