Oooo I can’t wait for mine.
Are the plate files released so an Alps plate can be cut?
according to chewwy, the plates are the same as the plates for the squid60, which I believe are public. Not sure where. I haven’t tried get any cut yet.
Receiving lots of fun things recently! this is my first time trying out DCS, and I have to say, I like it a lot more than I thought I would, @evangs knocked it out of the park with this set again.
DCS classic, on a very modern minivan.
I envy those center-stepped keycaps
Whaaaaa, I want extras.
Nice. I like that DCS is cylindrical like Cherry profile. That makes the keycap less sensitive to incline angle change. In comparison, I find comfort level of spherical keycaps like SA varying a lot depending the incline.
What keeps me away from DCS is relatively thin walls and price. That and the fact that I’m completely happy with Cherry profile.
fair enough, I do find the feel of both profiles to be very similar, but I might prefer DCS a little more, the thin walls aren’t a huge issue for me accoustically, and I prefer the dramatically quicker turn around time of the group buys, but I’ll always have a place in my heart, and collection, for GMK/ cherry abs doubleshots.
I can’t seem to find the source, but I recall matt3o specifically touting the mt3 profile for “flatter” angle boards, and this is pretty much my experience too - sculpted profiles feel better on a tofu than a klippe etc
The opposite, actually! It’s optimized for 5-7º angle boards (so R3 is relatively flat). Here’s the post ![]()
p.s., unless you just meant flatter as in 5º is flatter than 8º, but not necessarily 0º
Correct! that’s the one I meant - and right, the flatter there meaning “less aggressive/steep angle” - thanks for the link!
8008 clones from, what i assume to be, either a new manufacturer or new molds. made of ABS, which is surprising to me, and seems to be replicating EPBT. same type of arrow keys and such too.
Nice catch !
I’m curious if they have the same switch collision issues as the abs ePBT caps do (row 3 in particular – clearly heard on silent switches)?
yes, they do. all rows have interference on north facing orientation. completely fine the other way around, though.
That’s cool then. The ePBT ones had collision issues even with south facing switches.
Some generic 4 pin jst surface connectors from adafruit.
Normally I would not post it here but they came in a pretty awesome bag with a circuit pattern.
