What did you get in the mail today? (Part 1)

Can’t wait to receive mine!
How is the reverse dye sub implemented, not too much shrinkage ?

I think it looks really good. I was a big fan of this project, but decided to opt out of the GB due to Keyreative’s poor performance on production timetables and communication, and their reverse dyesub issues (on KAT Eternal at least). I really dig the legends, and hope that Keyreative makes doubleshot molds utilizing them (I like the texture of those better than the dyesubs) – and in general, get’s their shit together. Regardless, I hope you enjoy them after you get used to the profile a bit more.

“I was in the pool!” - I’m not entirely sure what you mean by shrinkage. I’m not super familiar on the reverse dye sub - I think that’d be primarily on the WoB keys, where the Black is the dye on the White base, such that the base is what makes up the legend? On the BoW - it’s white all the way down, so it wouldn’t seem like the reverse dye sub is used there, just regular dye sub

Everything looks super sharp and crisp. Happy to take additional pics of anything of interest.

Checking my receipts - I also have KAT Monochrome on order - 2020 me really thought KAT was an interesting enough profile/concept to get 2 sets. I’m hoping they’re close enough of a match to get the WoB pipe/slash key to round out the layout.

They do look good! Crisp, clean legends. I need to give them a bit more time, and get used to the feel / height. First impressions were, okay - just my own higher expectations due to timelines

Good mail day today for me.

Holytom Neon V2 (only difference between v1 and v2 is spring weight. v1 40g and v2 30g) made by Graingold, same manufacturer behind the NextTime engine v3 and Bulbasaurs and ‘Matcha Bamboo shoot’ switches. Quite smooth, minimal stem wobble and minimal ping. Not too bad for the cheap price.

Jwick Ice-Jade and Pink-Jade. Ice-jade has a pretty sharp tactile feel, less rounded than something like a feker panda, or maybe it’s just my heavy fingers that make it feel like that. Pink-jade are quite nice linears. Something about these 2 makes them very silent compared to other JWK switches. Almost as quite as some silent switches, very odd.

Also the PBTFans crosshair. It seems to have a lot more coarse/rough texture compared to normal doubleshot PBTFans keycaps like the purpolch. I still very much like PBTFans, even though their “PBT” keycaps seem to lose their texture quite fast. Even faster than some ABS sets i’ve seen. weird. 1 month of use on my purpolch and some keys are more shiny and smooth.

Shrinkage is some kind of cap deformation around the edges due to heat applied on all the walls of the keycaps, and yes WOB is the only one to be reverse die subbed.
If you did not see a shape difference between WOB and BOW keycaps then it’s great :).

I’ll never shake the love for MX. Definitely a less frustrating route in terms of customization and variety.

Oh, duh - that makes perfect sense. I didn’t notice anything glaring at first glance, besides the 7u spacebar having some warp, but that was on the white kit - no black dye to introduce that warping.

Looking a bit closer - the smaller keys don’t have much (I don’t have the alphas in the WoB to compare) - but there is some warping on the mods (very slight, nit-pick level - seen on the Control and a bit on the tab here) and a bit more on larger keys like the Big Enter.

Actually not today, but recently:

A norwegian Alcatel MMK, with a nice set of Cherry-made double shot caps.

A monstrosity… Why on earth did they make that ISO-enter 0.25u thinner?
I mean, would that little bit really have made a difference if they’d used a standard ISO-enter?

And here two MMK-caps in comparison with with two 1991-made G81-3000-caps.
Nice colour-match. The only visible difference is that the MMK-legends are a warm grey.

Is this the one with the phone? Awesome stuff!

All-white OG Cherry caps are quite rare. Are those pad prints or doubleshots? The legend on the I key looks quite a bit worn.

Love the all-LED F-keys and grey icon keys as well, really interesting.

Amazing keyboard overall

Ha that’s so cool! Reminds me of the giant RV Homer Simpson made that one time…

Yes, that’s the one with the phone

Those are doubleshots.
Only a few caps are dye-sub (menu, win, the legends on the windowed caps and the darker caps).

What looks like a worn legend on the I, is just the reflection from the flash (sorry, it was just a quick snapshot before I started removing the caps).

Lovely LED caps

Oh, then the timeline is perfectly accurate (this model is supposed to have doubleshots).
