The hell was I watching there
Ha, thatâs Dankpods - heâs an Aussie professional drummer that has a side gig fixing iPods, both of which he has YouTube channels for. He also does some cheeky âreviewsâ of trash-tier MP3 players, which he affectionately calls ânuggetsâ.
âSomeoneâs been in hereâ is pretty much his catch-phrase.
The snake is his his pet, and her name is Frank.
Got a prototype Sr2 in today. Super happy about it! Decided to put some red caps on it, the contrast is interesting
Man, that color! Reminds me of an old hospital or the ceiling trim at Perkins.
Letâs go with âmintâ.
Syringe filled w/XHT-BDZ, bunch of stab wires (bc XHT-BDZ requires new stab wires), and 53g 22mm single-stage springs from PovertyKeys.com.
I liked the springs right away. It uses thinner wire than the ones made by mStone and feels better without crunching. It feels closer to spring I liked in FLCMMK Ice Mint except slightly heavier which I liked. Iâm going try them in-use and order more if initial impression pans out.
Here is a photo of the springs I mentioned above.
- spring on top is 50g 22mm spring made by mStone and sold by KPRepublic . Its wire is thicker and coils at ends are thicker. It crunches on some switches.
- spring below is 53g 22mm spring made by a Korean company and sold by PovertyKeys. Its wire is thinner and coils at ends are also thinner.
When I tested them, spring from PovertyKeys felt noticeably better: snappier, cleaner feel without spring crunch.

Some extra Silks and a pack of stands.
Also, DCS Paperwork!
Oh, Signature Plastics. Your keys are very good but your packaging might be the actual worst.
I was worried when I first saw the box; âno way did all the kits fit in there,â I thought. Then I remembered who makes DCS, and it made sense again.
It is kind of funny to me that after all these years, a plastics manufacturer known for its high quality products doesnât even try with packaging, to the point of damage being somewhat common. They could literally make it themselves.
I remember talking with one of their customer service people (who Iâve always found to be genuinely helpful), and she said it was something they were definitely thinking about. That was⌠five years ago. Well - until they finish thinking about it Iâm glad there are some nice aftermarket trays out there these days
They pass the savings of not sorting and buying extra
extra packaging onto you⌠oh wait they are still hella expensive
I actually donât mind considering how much packaging ends up in landfills. But I get why people would expect it for the price.
ooh, beauties! Whatâs 3dkeebs gonna do with extras I wonder? I know heâs trying to wrap things up.
Iâve never fully understood aftermarket keycap trays until now. Even the $25 XDA set of caps I bought on Amazon early in my keyboard journey came in a plastic tray with a cardboard box fitted around it. Not like a pile of keycaps in a bag in a boxâŚ
Received NK Silk Olivia switches.
Initial impressions: Decent and Unremarkable. Move on.
If I learned correct today, âbecome one with cup rubberâ implies owning a Realforce87U. Is that right?
Looking at you GMKâŚ
KB2040s arrived today and Iâm finally in the process of understanding all the Matrix stuffâŚ
I guess Iâm still in the minority of those who would rather the keycaps just come in bags
Less shit to recycle. Cheaper shipping.
Absolutely. I hate the new GMK trays, absolutely useless. And tbh I donât have time to sort that shit right back when l switch caps, so they go in a bag anyway
Iâm definitely a fan of a physically smaller footprint, less waste, less energy usage on multiple fronts, etc. - but at least a couple of my SP sets arrived damaged when shipped that way, from the caps scraping against each-other. (I do store a bunch of my sets in bags once theyâre here, though - ha, I trust myself to be more gentle than a trip through the post.)
I think GMK is at least aiming in the right direction with biodegradable packaging, but the current implementation is bulky, doesnât actually protect the caps all that well, and apparently makes attractive food for buggos.
My imaginary ideal packaging would be shaped like what MCR or DCX use, but be made out of one of those plant-based plastics that biodegrade when exposed to the elements but donât make a tasty roach snack.
They biodegrade, but a lot slower than the starch stuff GMK uses, which loses its structure as soon as it gets too moist. (eewww) The MCR / DCX packaging is reasonably compact; thereâs much less air space than GMK. Theyâre bigger than just bags, bug critically for me, each individual cap is prevented from jostling around and hitting other caps.
If they could make that out of something that doesnât need to have energy spent on it to degrade (but also not make it so degradable that itâs toast before it even arrives), I think that would be perfect.
One of the many ways in the journey to thocc
Iâm with you â still a minority, I guess
Fun things! Finally received less, but better from Kono. I need to mount it before saying anything substantive about it but Iâm intrigued by the warmer, creamy color. Here it is next to ePBT BoW:
Plus a gift of Nice PBT from a friend! Extremely gracious and looking forward to giving it a go as well. Still trying to decide what caps to put in which board but Iâll sort that out soon.
Iâm impressed by how sharp the dye-sub is on the less, but better legends, especially considering how thin the font is. How did the larger mods and/or novelties turn out?
I didnt even have to click on the link and i already knew what was coming lol
