What did you get in the mail today? (Part 1)

Can you show us?

I only encountered the BAE on the SteelSeries 6gv2 and it looked like this.

Man. I need to get a set now! Do you use it with 2 switches like normal or do you take the spring out of the pipe key switch?

Ooh I hadn’t thought of removing the spring, definitely going to have to try when I get the chance. So far I’ve only used it with 2 linear switches, which does affect the feel as you expect, I guess will vary greatly depending on the switches though!

(Edit) ok very quickly tried the springless pipe key with stem still in and it works pretty well!:+1:

Cool. And yeah, I would go for a linear switch with no or VERY light spring on pipe.
The 6gv2 I had just had a hole for that plunger to slide in.

Have you built the Corsa yet? Wanna see the way people are using the screen!

It’s been a loong time coming but I finally own a SA Retro set. :tada:

More stuff from Divinikey (I know they’re loving me lately!). I got the JC Studio mint extension set to add some flair to my Black Desko set from them. 4 more packs of Geon springs & 108 Gateron UHMknowns, which feel & sound pretty nice on the in hand test. Gonna have to compare the stems from these to the ones in Gat Hippos to see if there really is any difference. Supposedly Gateron has molds specifically for UHMWPE stems now & these switches supposedly us stems from them. Will report back after I get a chance to compare them!

Edit:

A little splash of color for the :frog:

There is something special with brand new SP SA caps! :heart_eyes_cat:

The shrink sealing is nice!

I like it because it’s minimal waste and keeps the caps unscratched. But holy crap is it hard to unpackage. Seems strange but they are a pain to open.

Dude, I am so tempted to snag one of these 8ks, especially after looking at your pics! How do you like JC Studio? The desko + mint extension looks fantastic.

The 8k would be a worthy addition to your collection, NGL. The layout is really growing on me, I’m almost ready to call it my favorite layout but there is a few I haven’t had extended time with yet. Like FRL TKLs & compact 1800s. The JC studios caps are actually awesome! Just as thick as any other top tier PBT caps, have a nice sound you’d expect from good PBT, no warped keys at all even the 7u was straight as an arrow, & the dyesub work is pretty good too. For the price you really can’t beat them IMHO (Maybe 21Kb, but they are about $20 more expensive on a set so…)! I’m sure there is some things we could nitpick the JC Studios sets for if you look over them hard enough. Although at $40 for a full set I’m willing to adjust my standards accordingly.

Yes, JC Studios is insane value. I actually received the same set that you did (bought it for a friend), and it was great.

I was kind of on the fence about Desko Black when CRP was running it, but for 1/3rd the price it is an easy sell.

There’s nothing really wrong with the keycaps, they just have less kitting and less ivory-like surfaces than CRP.

Switch day

Trash switches (Haimu linear) from CBKBD, XCJZ mustard green and Lucy switches (both by LICHICX I think?) from AliExpress. Ordered 2 weeks apart and arrived on the same day. :man_shrugging:

So far super happy with all 3

I put the Lucy’s in my stickerbomb’d IDABAO ID42 and I have to say, silent switches aren’t my first choice, but feel and sound great in that little package.
