Can’t wait to see your build !
SA Granite arrived in the mail.
I am not sure I am really vibing it. Might get relegated to the desk drawer.
Thoughts?
It needs a matching keeb, like a HMKB or something retro looking.
I think maybe the color accents are what’s throwing me off. Maybe boring all beige and white would be better.
I agree. I think a subtle gray/white would allow that case to do the fancy dancing without any competition.
IDK. I think it looks great, personally. I think it looks quite classy and the accent colors really pop. But I have to admit bias, because I love granite. Do you have the full set or just the 40s kit? If it’s the full set I’ll buy it from you
Hotswap PCB for the G80-1800 with per-key flex cuts (ugh). Sadly the Hotswap version only has ISO support, which i didn’t want but the listing on taobao was too vague to really know for sure. I guess i will be selling this one now and get the solder PCB for ANSI.
Also an FR4 plate, 2 solenoids, a small PCB with a beeper/buzzer, and a USB-C daughterboard for it.
Yesterday actually, but I got my set of TX AP stabs & packs of Geon springs in from Divinikey.
Definitely one of the coolest stickers I’ve gotten from a vendor in a while! Also I found out I’m dummy too. When I went to put my new set of TX AP stabs in my stab box I found 2 sets of TX AP stabs staring me right in the face… I completely forgot I had ordered them!
Edit: The Geon 18mm springs are super nice! I got some 14mm ones on the way, will report back on them!
Got my JC Studios Desko Black keycap set, Geon switch films, & 5ml of 206g0 in from Divinikey today, got the day off tomorrow so I can build my Frog 8k, love it when a plan comes together the way you wanted! The keycaps on a quick check over seem great. Good dyesub work, decent blanks (not XMI like I was thinking though), great coverage of layouts, & no warping to be found! The 7u spacebar is straight as an arrow & works on even on my Jules which is super sensitive to warped spacebars. For the $37 & change I paid for this set, I almost feel like I ripped off Divinikey LOL!
Received some BSUN X switches from UniKeys.
This POK housing+LY stem combo sounds similar to WS Morandi (POM housing+UPE stem) and Boba LT-based frankenswitch I made. BSUN X sound more solid than WS Morandi’s thin sound though.
UPDATE: Typing on full board of it did bring out its distinct sound which is still plasticky but mid-pitched. Combined with solidness of the sound made typing enjoyable in a calm jolly way. Wondering if this is what POK sound is.
If Cherry Black is Determined and WS Morandi is Vanity, BSUN X is Sincere, somewhere in the middle.
Got a few things in, one of which being the Neo65 from Neo/Qwertykeys/OwLabs/Batman/Bruce Wayne/???:
Went solder PCB with no foam, CF plate and Geon Black linears (Zakus w/a heavier spring)
Keycaps are KDS Chainsaw from Kono as they are trying to get into the keycap game. They are reverse dye-sub PBT so they are nice and crisp, but could definitely be a little thicker as they sound hollower than some of my other PBT keycaps from PBTFans and Cannon Keys.
Both the board and the keycaps arrived at the same time so I figured I’d take them both for a test drive.
The Neo65 sounds great, and assembly was pretty easy. You can either do o-ring mount (which is the configuration I have here) or silicone PCB gasket mount that reminds me a little of the mounts in the QK75. With it being PCB mount, plateless is theoretically possible as well.
The board also came with stabilizers from Neo that are clip-ins that look to be a cross between Cherry and TX. They aren’t too bad, but I did find balancing the wire to be a little bit of a PITA because the wire is a little sifter than I am used to. Once balanced and lubed, they work just fine.
The Power artisan is adorable. Chainsaw looks so nice with that case!
What are the stems like on the BAE? Can you just use it in place is the pipe and enter key?
Yep, standard ansi enter stems with an additional stem to replace the pipe.
I guess this better than the plastic baggies SP used to ship in…
