It came a few days ahead of schedule which was a nice surprise! Similar situation for me with the greens I had, which were originally going to be the for this but ended up in another board…
It has been a long time coming lol. A Jane with pine whites sounds like cool project though!!
Ooh. Looks like Drop had some wrong info. The description even states:
Guess there was a mixup. They’ve changed 1.8mm to 1.5mm. That’s not really extra thickness. Good to know
Yeah i was super happy to see it was a mistake. Now i can order some alpha & child kits to go with my Rd. 5 set! Although I know there has been some differences in the colors the ise so fingers crossed the match between the rds.
when were they 1.8?)
r4 thickness = 1.4
They never were that thick, Dorp was listing them as 1.8mm thick for this rd. but it was a mistake.
FRIGHT CLUB!
Missed having them for Halloween by just a few days
How cool are these novelties!? Just need to get the packaging dust off of them all now ![]()
Might put these on my 8k to try and use as many novelties as possible. ![]()
Another round of awful photos.
- Aiguox “beat the lemon” switches. POM stem, PA6 top, PA66 bottom, so basically just a mixed Nylon housing, nice. it’s a linear switch with a 22m long 40g spring with 3.5mm travel. I’m not sure about the manufacturer, but it’s awfully close to the “Bald Brother Strawberry Ice Cream V3” i showed before… sadly i don’t know the manufacturer of those either. But they are quite smooth and the springs seem to be quite decent as most of them don’t have any ping, with some only having a very subtle one.
- P.G.Peripherals (PaiGu) cheese mocha switches. Supposedly their own manufacturer with their own molds, only called “PaiGu”, which is also on the nameplates. Molds are very weird, specially on the stem (i think someone with better photos has shown that before in here) with some weird “teeth” next to the stem legs. Another linear switch with 3.6mm travel and a POM stem with Nylon housing combo.
- Also 2 new mice for my “collection”. From left to right :
- AULA SC580 (came today. shape and some of the look very clearly inspired by the GPW. i’m using that one right now because i’m done with logitech for now. it being AULA is also neat because they are a sister-company of the switch manufacturer Leobog.)
- Taidu MC202 (3$ wireless mouse that’s actually surprisingly really good, despite being an obvious GPW clone. but sadly only 1000Dpi or so. Has Yusya (another keyboard switch manufacturer) branded PCB and switches. If only it had a decent sensor with at least 5000Dpi. even the build quality feels better than the GPW.)
- Logitech GPW (with hotswap PCB and type-c conversion and china replacement shell. absolutely hate the cheap plastic logitech is using and also the omron switches with their damn doubleclick issue.)
- “Dell” GM3323D (came today. Shape and overall looks also very inspired by GPW. It even has the round magnetic thing covering the USB-dongle on the bottom and almost the same sliders.)
- Logitech G305 Lightspeed. (I actually despise that thing and wish i could throw it at my wall. man, what a crap experience that thing is. from random stuttering, doubleclicking and lagging to the crap logitech software that refuses to save settings, the cheap quality plastics…)
I did some more modding experiments with the Zeal Clickiez. This time I was observant enough to notice that the springs did not, in fact, fit over the sleeve of the stem. D’oh! The difference in diameter is too small to measure with the tools I have here.
I did some searchengineering and I couldn’t find any third-party springs compatible with Gateron CAP stems. (I also couldn’t find any 12mm springs, Cherry Clear / Halo True length.)
I also tried variations on sticking tape into the upper housing and/or onto the click leaf, which worked OK to make them quieter without making them super tactile like the official mod. But, goodness me it was a faff.

Got my Spider Web Moonblank from ETF’s Halloween raffle! Ended up getting a purple one, but the color really doesn’t come through in the pic. It’s like a few different shades of purple swirled together with glitter in it at the base of the cap then most of the resin is translucent with silverish white spider web pattern on top. It’ll match perfect with Hyperfuse I’m thinking!
I ended up getting some 21KB keycaps in and man, they are CHONKY!!
I think the term “thicker than a bowl of oatmeal” definitely applies here… ![]()

PLEASE keep in mind that theseare FAR from legitimate scientific laboratory results as I am just some random person with too much time on his hands (sometimes) and a cheap digital caliper from Amazon…

Crazy that I just got shipping data for these. That was FAST!
Speaking of this set… what options are there for a modern layout that uses the extra top function keys (battleship type layout)
I remember the Parallax, but I dont think he ever produced one:
and then apparently this in in IC:
UPS dropped off Invokeys Red Bean switches.
Initial Impression: Feels eerily silky yet sluggish stock, like pushing on a high-end stereo switch. Sounds weird. I expected them to sound similar to BSUN X but they’re very different. Overall they don’t feel nor sound good stock. Maybe lube will change things. Not sure.
I’m going to need more time to tinker with it to get a better feel for the switch.
Same here, I was shocked the sets got made that quick! I think he might have had the production started early since it was only 30 sets & the demand was there for them. Yeah I’m pretty sure the Parallax died a death unfortunately, but the 21XX still has some life in it, it looks like. I really haven’t dug to deep into the options for a modern battleship type board. I just knew I need the Retro Support set for my Frog 8K LOL! Although I will be searching up other boards to use this awesome set with. If I come across anything interesting I’ll be sure to let you know!
So I am assuming you got the unlubed ones? I thought they either came lubed or you had an option.
I have heard good things about the factory lube on Invokeys, so what is what I would have/will lean towards.
Yes, unlubed. While lube may improve the switch, it won’t help with uneven sound. The switch sound varys depending on where it’s pressed and is inconsitent between switches. It’s as if stem sometimes lands on different parts of the body.
What is it about the Red Beans you don’t like feel & sound wise? Kinda surprised to hear someone saying they don’t like either with these since BSUN has made huge strides in quality since the OG Panda & YOK days.
