Good to hear! I was really close to doing my MX build for my TKL One with them stock this past weekend, but ended up holding off. I want to hand lube a few just to see how much difference it makes. If it’s not super noticeable these probably will be the first batch of switches I soldering into something without tuning them myself.
Got my set of GMK’s standard color caps in! Also got another Haimu Sky sample (kinda wish they’d keep track of who got what samples already, but I get that is a kind of unrealistic wish). Definitely some colors I have never seen in here, makes me want to try my hand at design a set LOL!
The carrying case is really nice. I’m impressed already. I won’t have time to get it built today, but I think I should have time tomorrow.
Nice, that was quick! I’m still waiting for mine to ship cause Wind Studio was confused about my address. I live in what is now called South Park, PA, but it used to be called Library, PA. They changed the name about 20 yrs. ago, but for whatever reason it still causes issues to this day. I guess whatever shipping company they’re using still has Library listed for my zipcode & they didn’t want to ship it since I gave my address as South Park. I guess at least I know I’ll get it pretty quick when they do get it sent out LOL! Also can’t wait to see what you do with yours! Any plans on what switches yet?
I too got my DR-70F today and built it up pretty quick.
I really like this board so far but I will say that the anno of the top and bottom don’t match. The top case is slightly darker than the bottom. I’m not sure how well it comes across in the photo though.
I’ve been really lazy lately with taking actual photos of the boards I build. I’ll have to change that. Soon™
Luckily my case halves match. Probably because of the ecoat finish
Fairly straightforward build. I thought my LEDs burned out but nope, the diffuser/blocker for the led bar just goes part way. It’s strange because it’s not 1/2 way or 1/3 of the way. You can probably remove it to see the entire led cluster.
I built it with all the foams using Gateron slay type L linears. Nice and poppy with the PE foam on the PCB.
I don’t like the look of ePBT grand tour on it, but it’s a good match. The cream is a bit on the sandy side of beige
I’ll find a better set for it and take better photos later. I think the board is a great value and well made. Probably should order a spare PCB since the unique form factor and ribbon cables will it will be impossible to replace if this one messes up down the road.
Yeah. I’m not totally upset about the anno given the value of this board. I just thought I’d make a note of it for anyone else. Plus, I’ve seen worse anno on way more expensive boards. coughramacough
EDIT: I forgot that GMK Chaos Theory finally arrived the other day after 2+ years.
I’ve seen in the discord some people just removing the LED bar blocker so the full strip shines through but also on the group buy accessories page you can get a full strip if you like the diffused look: [GB] DaringRun DR-70F Accessories – Divinikey - for whenever that runs. It’s kind of quirky.
Also looks great! Grand Tour is a good match, but I feel like that color can work with some other sets really well too.
Oh I really debated getting red, but then waited too long for the in-stock sale - looks great! How did you do your build?
I’m looking forward to those options. I would definitely pick up a full led strip as well as the sandwich plate option.
They have factory lubricant. BUT
They are so loud, a high-pitched sound of impact upward.
If you re-lubricate manually. That’s better, but in the video of “Keeb Taro” they are quieter. In real life, I thought about throwing them out the window.
Thanks! It’s built with the standard gasket setup. I used TX screw in stabs with some Akko Cream Blue switches because that’s all I had laying around. I’m currently breaking in some Cherry Purples to test out. But I might end up just going with some linears like normal. Lol.
I think Divinikey still has some sandwich plate extras in stock.
Huh, that’s pretty odd, it’s made of the standard nylon housing, POM stem combo. They do say polymer nylon so it makes me wonder if it has a ton of fiberglass added or if the loudness is down to the stem having a fairly small point it bottoms out on. It could also be a combo of the two. ![]()
Got my Keyby in yesterday & got some ALPS springs in from RNDKBD today. I hate to support sprit, but as far as ALPS springs goes he’s the only game in town unfortunately. I searched all over for alternatives but couldn’t find anything other than the regular ALPS springs MK.com & RNDKBD has left & the ALPS/Choc springs RNDKBD has. I actually think I got literally the last pack of 40cn regular ALPS springs out there as this was the only one RNDKBD had in stock & MK.com just had super heavy ones left. Thankfully Choc springs are compatible with ALPS so us ALPS enthusiasts are not completely SOL. Although again for Choc springs sprit seems to be the only one making them. Not ideal, but good aftermarket springs really makes a noticeable difference with SKCM/L ALPS IME.
I only have one Akko Cream Blue, but I feel like it has a nice bump! I’m definitely doing tactiles in mine - it’s all I really have…not sure what yet though.
I just recently got a set of Akko V3 Cream Blue Pros (they are only $2 per 10 switches on Milktooth), and tonight I got around to swapping them into my extreme budget build that I mentioned above.
I like these switches a lot and recommend that anyone exploring tactile options give these a try.
In comparison to the Gazzew U4Ts that I’ve also tried in a few boards, I feel that the Akko Cream Blues have a much better sound profile (deeper and much better upstroke), feel similarly nice, but have a lighter spring. Frankly, the Gazzew U4Ts were a bit disappointing, as they have a very poor upstroke sound and are overall a bit too high pitched, and about 8 in my batch of 91 had a ton of ping.
The Cream Blue Pro are probably one of the better examples of factory-lube in budget tactiles.
You might be able to get away without lubing them at all.
I wish that some light-tactiles were available like this. AKKO’s Jelly Purple could use the “Pro” treatment.
Ha, I’m actually trying to get away without lubing any switches…
Maybe that’s why my experience with the U4Ts was so bad? Do they benefit greatly from hand lubing?
I dont have alot of experience with Bobas but do know they come dry. So I would say yes that is a big reason you are disliking them.
