Got the SkIIdata set in, went right on to my Redscarf! Love this colorway & am so glad to finally own a set!
Looking good on the RS! I love Skiidata
I can see your love for Yellowish colors
Got an all black Alma & Lola I got off r/mm, then some replacement tips for my desoldering iron & 2 Anker 6’ USB-C cables from Amazon in today. The cables really surprised me at $13 for a 2 pack, they seem to be very well made.
RGB Realforce. Waiting for my VHS finish norbaforce will be rough.
Feels great stock. Was planning to silence it, but I’m not so sure now.
NeXT non-adb keyboard from Black Hole Inc. (Modern-day NeXT reseller) Black Alps.
I have a Drakware adapter coming soon to use it via USB.
That’s a cool board
Just remember that any mass produced electronics will be soldered with lead free solder & it will take higher temps to desolder than it will to put the new switches in with leaded solder.
Ah, thanks for the tip!
I find it easier if you add a dab of flux to these before desoldering, too. If you don’t have any on hand you can just do one quick touch of new solder (assuming you have flux core solder) before desoldering.
Good luck! If you fail to get the solder out of a pad, It’s best to Build the solder back up and retry. I find that when I’ve lifted pads in the past, it was usually from from trying to go at bare pad to get solder down inside.
Finally got these MT3 dev/tty’s in! Been waiting since March lol
This is also my first custom keyboard that I built myself. Was just waiting on these keycaps to finally use it haha
Custom cable from Zapcables!
Looks fantastic
That integrated USB hub is nice
What keyboard? Looks outstanding
The housings came from all the way over in Australia, but managed to arrive on exactly the same day as their two siblings which shipped CONUS!
My impression on them is that they feel and sound pretty good, if not quite the same housing material mix as YOK or Drop pandas. My gut says the clear GSUS housings will make for enough of a housing-feeling and sound-profile upgrade for my Zealio stems that it’s worth losing the Zeal leaf, but I may have to go all the way and leafswap to maximize tactility.
I wouldn’t bother with leaf swapping TBH. I’ve been tweaking my build that I swapped Outemu Sky leaves into V1 Zealios bottom housings for months & still have one key that chatters a bit. Not to mention how many times I had to open switches to adjust the leaves for a more consistent feel or stop a switch from chattering. While it did make superb feeling switches, all the tweaking & messing about to get it working properly & feeling consistent just wasn’t worth it IMHO.
Yeah, it seems like a LOT of effort to do well and introduces so many potential points of failure that I’d need to feel like I was getting a lot out of it to go for it.
Truly the only solution to my self-imposed impasse will be to design and self-fund mold production for a high-quality translucent nylon housing containing a custom high-tactility leaf and stem.
EDIT: And not use Durock to make ‘em
It’s a YMDK 96
