I got my first artisan in the mail. I signed up for a raffle on a whim randomly. I’ve never really been interested in artisans but this one interested me and I really didn’t think I was going to win.
Unfortunately, I’m kind of disappointed with it. I think the paint on the left eye looks messed up. Can someone help me here? I know that the pictures that were provided by the creator were just samples and not meant to represent the final product but does this really meet the standards? I mean it’s a bummer that the little paint there is on the artisan is smudged.
Can someone who is more well versed in the artisan world let me know if I’m being too picky or if I should do something about this?
I’m not the hugest artisan collector, but hope I can help a bit. While I do see what you are referring to, I think you’re being a little too picky honestly. Gotta remember that’s not paint on the eyes, it’s actual resin. I can’t speak to how Bad Chad does his shots to get the different colors in place or how he decides what is acceptable to send out & what is B-stock. Although I can say with artisans it is expected that there will be slight variances between each cap like that, even in the same batch. Especially with smaller details like eyes that are harder to keep consistent. Personally I think something like this would fall under that. Also most artisan makers put disclaimers about that in their raffle/sales forms/sites because of things like this.
If you are really unhappy with the cap you could always hit up Bad Chad, send him some pics & see what he thinks about it. Although I really think that cap is acceptable & would not do that myself. Moreover if you get bothered by little variances like that collecting artisans might not be for you. They’re handmade & it’s an imperfect process so things like this is very common.
Nice. Tealios is the new classic. It has a distinct feel that can stand on its own against the onslaught of new switches. Inks OTOH is at risk because the new switches are bassy sort like Inks. Creamy Inks are better.
UPDATE: Sorry. I had to update my post because Tealios is not really better than Inks. What I wanted to say was that Inks sounded too similar to new switches like Mauves.
I haven’t had as much time to follow what’s out and such and missed out on getting the mauves and alpacas, but I’ve been very happy with the lubed tealios in my Fjell, and they’re pretty readily available which is nice. Tealios + a lot of foam is pretty much hands down my favorite feel and sound right now, so I plan on using them for my boards for the forseeable future.
Thank you for the input Rob! Like I said, I was really lost since I am brand new in the artisan world. I got some other opinions from other people and most said to talk to Chad about it. I talked to Bad Chad and he gave me GREAT customer support. It’s good to know that there are trustworthy vendors in the artisan world. Thanks again!
As previously mentioned I’d accidentally had some sent to the wrong address - the seller was cool enough to refund me even though it was my blunder, so I re-ordered them to the right place. Unexpected bonus: the half of my shipment with the Halos went to the office of my old apartment complex instead of the apartment itself, and they were nice enough to get in touch with me about it even though I’d already written it off. So… now I have two big boxes of Halos…
My first ever deskmat!! Here’s a really mediocre first ever build for scale. It’s a colossal deskmat. Can’t wait for Olivia++ to ship out in April so I can get my actual endgame build on its way.
