What did you get in the mail today? (Part 2)

Yes! If they could do an e-grey that’s pretty close to those carts that would be wonderfully on-theme… they could even style the bottom weight a bit more closely to elements of the DMG, like that fun vented corner bit featured on the HIBI artisan.

oh I’ve been considering this set - looks great - I missed the other two GSA sets I think (that I know of)…

Okay, all the people that said I would like HSA caps were right. I know I keep putting caps on the same board (boring!) - I got my Encore today too, but I’m out of stabs…

Also my fail. Turns out a TKL set+numpad doesn’t fit in the JTK medium trays, which I basically knew, but I was hoping for the best…

Got my latest order from Cannonkeys in! Grabbed another large hard case for my 8XV3.0, a microfiber cloth for the case, a set of Nice PBT Reverse Beige, & more CK stab wires (5 - 7u & 10 - 2u). Pretty impressed by the Nice PBT set, the dyesub is really good & no warped keys to speak of. Also really like the fact they come in trays with tops, the packaging can definitely be used for storage. Then the cap puller is a nice addition too.

Edit: R-Beige hits different, loving it on my 3.0!

SA Geoma. Also, I accidentally bought two sets of light alphas. Willing to sell at a discount if anyone is interested

Here’s the dark alphas. I actually like this more than light IRL.

Fairly accurate color representation here. Top photo has more warm light, bottom photo is only natural light from outside.

Geoma (left) vs SA abyss.

If you put the gray alphas of Geoma with the navy mods of Abyss it has a reverse Calm Depths look. Need to take a photo of that combo some time.

More or less exciting. From top left to right

  • Off Studio Kailh BCP. POM stem, Nylon housing. I’m surprised, tbh. They were said to be made with specific “Cherry-like” scratch to be more like actual BCP. But, at least with this prelube, they feel pretty smooth. Also a lot less (barely any) stem wobble than i expected. Very nice. And the nicest of the BCP switches, i’d say, if compared to the ones on the 2nd Photo. Being Sarokeys BSUN BCP, Off studio Kailh BCP, Infiverse JWK BCP and an actual BCP.
  • “MS & EZ” branded switches that were supposed to be “Kaiche Blue” but, for some reason, the seller just sent these. Surprisingly decent, but still a shame. I was looking forward to having some full nylon Kaiche switches.
  • Content Black. MX-latch, and not sure if they are new or old. If they are Old, they are from a time before they were called KTT. They are pretty… sub-par, i guess, if you compare them to modern Gateron blacks or similar. Scratchy, pingy, wobbly. Not good, not terrible.
  • “Overseas Axis No.2” is the only Name if have for them. Seller wasn’t sure about Manufacturer, but said “i think Meirun”. POM stem, PC top, Nylon bottom long pole linear with quite heavy factory lubing. They do sound really good, but… Meirun being Meirun.
  • Lilac “UPE + POK blend” 13.8mm stems that are stick slipping in full POM, even more than known POM stems, so… POM.
  • “UPE blend” 13.6mm stems in cream color, same story. probably POM.

Received the following from Cannon Keys:

  • Mekanisk Ultramarine V2 linear switches (2 x 36)
  • 21mm 55g 3-stage CK Springs (2 x 110) - for a weight gap in my long springs
  • 23mm 58g 2-stage CK Springs (2 x 110) - extra chewy over 58g CK Slow Springs

Mekanisk Ultramarine V2 pitch is darn low which should reverberate well through my hefty Fjell. Too bad I didn’t get the Ultramarine Fjell.

With extra springs from before, I now have 330 springs of each type, enough to fill 5 x 60% boards. I currently use 61 switches per board bc spacebar is always Gateron Cream Soda with New Nixie spring. 58g super-long in particular filled my need when stock Gateron Smoothie springs felt wimpy.

Oooh, these are odd.

Got Keygeek MZ Y3 linears and HMX Snow crash linears in the mail today.

The MZ Y3 are quite nice, but these:

Very odd. Almost feels like the keycap is colliding with the housing. Feels quite heavy too. I’m gonna have to experiment with them. If you’re looking for something different feeling, this might float your boat. Also, zero wobble. Like, none at all… anywhere in the keypress. They kinda feel like a magnetic switch but more stable.

I’m always on the lookout for black housing switches, so I hope one of these two will work out on something.

Also got some of the MZ Y1X linears. I’ll have to compare them to the Y1 linears, which they are reported to be an improvement on.

Yes, they feel like a magnetic switch. I couldn’t put my finger on it at first, but now that I have them in a board, that’s the feel. The first time I tried magnetic switches was the Lekker 60g. I didn’t like them because it felt like they didn’t bottom out. I soon swapped out to the Gateron Magnetic Jade and like them a lot more.

These Snow Crash switches are somewhere between the two in terms of the bottom out sound/feel. They are more stable than either magnetic switch, however. And very smooth.

I think these could be a great switch for a pingy case. I’ll have to test that out tomorrow.

It also might be interesting to try them with MT3 or SA because they are so stable.

I can’t say that I like them a lot, but I do think I can make them work in a very specific build.

Also, I’m going to have to spring swap them. The stock springs feel dead for some reason. They’re so lifeless and heavy. I put in a dual stage 63.5g spring and it felt a lot lighter and bouncier

Amazing build.

Yep. I have the blue one as well. This one is built with new mini-B hotswap PCB and FR4 plate from @Rico

You built it with the half plate?

No, not yet. Still have the new solder PCB and 1/2 plate to build. Have to figure out what I want to use still

None of this arrived today, but recently. I was trying out the Snow Crash switches in a case that was more pingy… my Mercury65. Also was trying out with taller caps because the switches are so stable. MT3 felt absolutely perfect on those switches. Match made in heaven. But I didn’t like the look of MT3 dark on a white case. Not sure I love this combo either, but It’s better. R&D 1973 shown here. I still think these switches pair better with MT3, but they do feel nice on MTNU as well.

Finally got my hands on a SA Laser Numpad Kit. Got a lot of kitting when I bought the set secondhand, with the exception of 40s and Numpad. I really want to put it on the Boston and made the mistake to not purchase the numpad kit when it was in stock at Drop. Well here it is, finally
