What did you get in the mail today? (Part 2)

It’s been a while. I slowed down with switch purchases because the market has slowed down so much. Also sleep deprived and on meds for sinusitis, so the english might be a little weird.

  • NL x Keygeek Kyubi Clacky. U4 Stem, PA66 Top, PBT bottom with really nice tolerances. There’s barely any wobble at all, but without binding. And they are really smooth and have a nice sound. Really nice linears, and they feel like they almost have 4mm travel, which i like.
  • Vertex x Keygeek Intro Black. Also U4 Stem (or U4+, same thing), PA66 Top, PBT bottom but with a slightly different sound, a little higher in pitch and louder, and the stems have just ever so slightly more wobble but they also feel like 4mm travel, and are also linear.
  • Valkyrie x BSUN Cranberry. I have to try and find the marketing images for the materials again, but they are really nice long pole linears, with maybe 3.7 or 3.8mm travel, i’d guess. I’m just gonna go out on a limb and say PC top, POM/LY stem, PA bottom just by intuition. Really nice tolerances on those too.
  • I need to look up the name and specs/materials of these, all i know is that they are called “Dongpo” switches. Again, going to guess PC top, POM/LY stem and PA bottom with 3.9 or 3.8mm travel. Little wobble on the stem and the housing, but otherwise still great long pole linears…
  • Kataaa x LCET switches. On these i do know that they are PC top, POM stem, PA66 bottom and supposedly 3.4mm travel, but feels like it’s more than that. 3.6 or 3.7mm maybe. Really nice long pole linear from LCET with a medium kind of tone, really smooth and little wobble on the stem.

Something tells me I do know what landed in your mailbox last month. Here’s my April market overview of the best-selling switches representing around 1 million units sold last month – as reported by 16 wonderful vendors and manufacturers:

Geon F1-8X V2 in raw aluminum and copper weights

I have a few PCBs for the several plates for this build, as well as some not shown such as ALPS
(Identical, but w/o flex-cuts)

and an opaque 1.2mm CEM-3 PCB

This is endgame territory for me, gents. Hobby has gotten pretty dicey and tariff uncertainty has me thinking twice on lots of things these days.

I will still try to post updates and stuff of my current collection, but I have hit my exit scam deductible with Space Cables and my Redemption.

I still have a couple of boards still in the pipeline (Rubrehose x TGR Jane V3, Anorexus vøid, FCR Hibiki by Hibi, and Pangea Full-Size by Bowl) so when those ship, expect posts!

Until then, I will be staring at this gorgeous hunk of metal

Damn the raw version is sexy! Still waiting on mine to get here, but it did finally actually ship! I got the notification today saying it should be here on mon.! Was kinda hoping for a delivery at the end of the week so I could it build it over the weekend LOL, but just happy to see it moving now TBH!

You’ve entered my territory)
And the delivery is expensive and the goods are expensive.
I have to come up with ways.

The mouse pad arrived today.

My F1-8X v2 showed up today! Man is it a super nice board! Thinking I’m gonna put it together with the HS PCB, alum. plate, TypePlus stabs, & Keygeek Oats in a little bit here just to see how it types. Ultimately I will building plateless though. I got the plateless kit & a spare Hiney H87c PCB I’ve been saving for this! Not sure what switches I’ll use yet. Probably try a few different switches out with the HS PCB to decide what I want to solder on.

Got my ultem plate for my VKR-94 in from Hype today! I love that they are starting to cut all kinds of different materials. Not sure what to expect from ultem? The plate is a good bit flexier than I was expecting, just from hand feel I’m gonna guess it should give a feel & sound close to POM or PP but I could be wrong there. I will definitely report back to let you guys know what’s up after I get a build done with it!

Oh you always order things want haha - I’ve been circling getting one of these plates! I can’t decide which board I want to try it on. Can’t wait to hear what you think!

That plate looks nice. Is it in a standard 1.5mm thickness?

Yep, standard thickness for MX switches. Although I’m pretty sure Hype will custom cut thicker or thinner plates if you need.

Took forever bc it got lost for a while, but I finally got KKB Pumpkin Spice Latte in the mail

I know it looks killer on beige and polycarbonate but I’m curious. Look at how close the orange is to the classic TKL ironstone color

I love DSA alchemy on that board, but I may swap it.

Honestly though, I’m even finding it hard to muster up the will to change out keycaps. It’s such a drastic change for me. I still don’t really understand what’s going on.

LOL, sorry! You know what they say, great minds think alike! Seriously though I’ll definitely let you know how the ultem plate works out. I should be building on it this weekend.

The match to the Classic TKL Ironstone is amazing, but DSA Alchemy also looks really good on that board…

Sorry about the lack of motivation piece. I wonder if it’s something about keyboards specifically or hobbies in general? I still personally feel a cooling in my motivation with keebs that comes and goes but stays more cooled off than usual if that make any sense.

I lost interest in gaming after decades of playing. And now I seem to have lost interest in keyboards. I still appreciate them, don’t get me wrong, but I just don’t get much excitement from it. It’s so odd how quickly it happened. Just like a switch flipped.

But I’m still here daily and like to keep up with what’s going on. I don’t feel a need to buy or build anything.
