Yeah I feel this statement, I’m the same way. I’ve waxed & waned even with my favorite hobbies like KBs, Gaming, PC gaming/tuning quite a bit over the years. Like you I also do stay involved in the communities most of time if I’m on the waning side of the spectrum though. Even if I can’t afford it at the time, or there is just nothing out there that interests me at the time. I always like to keep up on what new is coming out, any big changes in the status quo of whichever hobby, & what you guys are up to & excited about. So that is why you see me here more often than not. However like all of us sometimes life intervenes, demands your full attention, & you just don’t have the time or motivation to keep up with anything else.
Then the madness that Trump has introduced into American & international politics (cough, cough, ridiculous tariffs, causing mass panic in most industries trying to figure out the best way to pass the buck on said tarifs to customers is a huge blow to our KB hobby for sure, well pretty much all our hobbies TBH). So I can completely understand when anyone steps away from some hobbies, temporarily or permanently. Also with the US populace seriously thinking an ex-con who had to file for bankruptcy multiple times that has been out of touch since the 80s was a good person to make POTUS I don’t think things will get better anytime soon with the majority of our hobbies. Just an all around sad situation IMHO…
Don’t worry. You have a weak interest today. But time will pass and you will collect, buy, lubricate, read, search again. I have bought almost nothing for a year. Moreover, you just have tariffs. My border is closed. Credit cards are completely disabled. Almost everything on the Internet is blocked both inside and outside))) But, I continue my hobby)
That’s interesting. I wonder what the benefit of adding the small walls around the contact leaf bend is? I assume it’s to help acoustics, but that seems like it would have minimal impact. Seems more likely to cause damage upon assembly.
Once again not in the mail (I suppose virtual mail counts…), but grabbed tickets to see a few bands that have been on my list for awhile: Ice Nine Kills in August and then Lorna Shore in September (bonus points here that Shadow of Intent and Black Dhalia Murder are the opening acts).
Those sound like super fun shows! I haven’t had a chance to catch Lorna Shore live yet, but from all I’ve heard they put on a killer show! Black Dahlia Murder I have seen & man those guys rip live, just such a shame about Trevor. Haven’t seen them with the new frontman, but I can’t see that making them any less awesome live. Definitely have to fill us in on how the shows are afterwards!
I got in a set of PBS because I’ve been hunting for the right scoop to use on home row that feels nearly as good as LDSA does on my low profile boards. These scoops are DEFINITELY very different from LDSA, but they are the best feeling home row scoops I’ve found so far for MX in combination with Cherry profile for the rest of the board.
I could only find beige and grey, which doesn’t really go with my boards, but I’ll definitely be ordering a black set when they’re back in stock.
I got a new little shelf to match the one I had, some cheap speakers to replace the even cheaper ones I had and then picked up a physical copy of Rhythm of War, even though I’ve read it I like owning physical copies of books that I enjoy.
I was able to get the keyboard and the kobo frame for $105. I’d say that’s pretty nice. .
The keyboard, which is now discontinued, says it will last 6 months on 2AA batteries. I plan to put it to the test. I do find it nice that it has an on/off switch as well. Really a nice keyboard, no surprise to me. I suppose it was discontinued because it doesn’t have support for multiple Bluetooth connections and USB mini.
Watch out for those Co-Star stabilizers. Filcos have issues with thick PBT Cherry profile and some non-OEM profiles.
But they seem to work well with SP DCS and SA.
I hope they remake the 2SC with MX2A switches, although I guess MX1A/Hyperglides are okay if they still have them. Many those boards are going up in price, from about $139 to $195+ now.
More resin! Got a Pine Blank from Wheat (my forest continues to grow! ), got my first Booper/Omnicelctic cap, a Steamboat Fang (he’s just a cute lil’ guy, also Booper’s little boxes are fire!), then I got lucky & was able to snag one of the few RGB sets of Inkblot’s newest sculpt Skullyuan! I also got a couple things from NK’s memo day sale (couldn’t resist with prices so low), I ended up grabbing the 2002 kit from CYL Beige Addon & the Dolch XT pack from CYL OG Extensions. Plus 100 pack of Keygeek Little Ghosts from Milktooth (these seem very similar to Oats in a quick hand test) to round out my latest deliveries.
Thanks! It is her newest sculpt, so that’s probably why you haven’t seen one before. If you’re interested in trying to grab one I’ll let you know when she’s having another raffle. It is a very cool cap for sure!
First time seeing those InkBloat artisans. Those look great! I like the subtle call back to old school artisans (Clacks?) that were big back in the day.
Got some MX2A Silent Blacks from NK’s sale. First time I’ve fiddled with MX2As - not sure how I’ll feel about them overall but I can tell I like these a lot more than original Cherry MX Silent Blacks.
