We use 4 primary colours consistently to build brand recognition: blue, red, white and grey. Blue is often associated with trust, honesty and professionalism. Red invokes warmth, energy, and excitement.
Maybe it needs an accents kit for their “secondary colours.”
Looks nice! They still have a ways to go, but I am reminded of Keyreative as the cheap clone company when I first entered the hobby. They have really come a long way!
For sure. I have some of the old cheap Keyreative abs blanks from thekeycompany and these are miles better in comparison.
I have four or five sets of KAT and KAM as well. I like KAM a lot but their space bars still have some pretty bad warping and shrinking.
They send a sample of all of their processes in a keycap pack when you order some of their products. I’m most impressed with their ABS glossy stuff. It feels and looks very premium.
If this set was doubleshot ABS, I would consider it pretty premium.
Also, I just realized they make a lot of ABS caps with UV print using the same legends and modifier, just in different colors:
Hopefully a US vendor will carry these for a better deal after shipping.
I’m liking the 808 kit:
I guess all the ABS kits have a misaligned stepped caps lock because they’re even that way in the product photos.
A bunch of weird stuff today, mostly. From left to right.
Cherry MX2A brown. Underwhelming compared to “vintage” browns. Was hoping for that same bump, but it feels much weaker. The rest is typical cherry sound and feel with their Nylon housings and POM stems.
Unknown to me as of right now. Might be Meirun, will need to investigate more. I assume they probably are, as often happens with those types of listings, somebodies custom Switch that they just keep selling under the table like they did with Zenclack’s Pleiades a few posts ago from the same listing.
NPKC Fandel. PBT housing, POM stem. Maybe also made by Meirun, same molds as the ones before. Long pole linears with a pretty good sound for what they are, like… a less high pitched POM sound, at least on the board i tried them on.
NPKC Dream. PBT bottom, ABS top, POM stem. Yup, ABS top, according to the spec sheet. I assume those are also meirun, like the previous ones. This one is a long pole tactile with ribbed rails on the stem.
Kyubi x JWK Thocky. They are basically more wobbly JWiCK blacks with less travel. Underwhelmed by them, tbh. The Kyubi Clacky by Keygeek were so good, but these… are not.
Ordered a batch of the new MZ x Keygeek Y2 switches. They’re made specifically to be deep sounding & I really liked the Y3s which were shockingly deep sounding in my VKR-94. So fingers crossed these are somehow deeper! Might use these for the plateless build I’m working on for my F1.
Once more not keyboard related, and actually from a month or two ago, but we found a used bookstore near me that happened to have the series I’d been hunting for to read (I can still buy them new, but I prefer the mass market versions as they are smaller form factor).
Through the first book, which I enjoyed and half way through the second. It’s been nice getting back into reading so much.
Got my 2 h87nu PCBs in today, all tested & working fine using Geon’s Fly DB with a EZmate to JST cable! The plateless setup has come together, now to find the time to build it…
The burgundy is much more purple-y than I anticipated, but I am not mad at it.
Excited to build it, and I will probably get some Brasso and polish the weights.
Very nice! Agreed it’s little more on the purple side than I would’ve expected for maroon but on the flip side it is a pretty unique color! Definitely let us know how you like it once you get it built!
Ah ha! Thank you. I remembered this set, but I was struggling to remember the name. My original plan was just to use Hiney Beige, but I may have to source this keycap set now. I think it would go great with this board.
I had the name wrong in my head until I had the box right in front of me. Best of luck finding a copy! It really is gorgeous in person; I have a similarly-colored board I plan to pair it with if I ever get around to building it.
