Bit the bullet & finally ordered a PP plate for my F1 from Hype. Found the plate files for the V3 plate & uploaded them as I much prefer the leaf springs being unbroken all the way across the top & bottom. The v1.1 plates have that funky split on the top leaf springs which kinda bothers me & I see as a liability on a plastic plate. Also order another 110 Keygeek Y2s from Unikeys, probably should’ve ordered more since I like them so much, but I am waiting for Keybay to restock on Keygeek Blue Cheese V2 which are also supposed to be super deep sounding switches.
Edit: Found the Blue Cheese v2 switches on sale at Aliexpress & ordered up 110 of them cheaper than anywhere else actually!
Again, I have some real numbers about your orders – here are the community-favorite switches of June based on data provided by 14 vendors and manufacturers:
And my related switch database with a new option of filtering for switch color (top housing for now).
Finally managed to snag a V4 1.0mm thick alum. plate for my F1 from Divinikey’s restock today! So now I’ll have a V1.1 full alum plate, a V3 PP plate from Hype, this, & the plateless kit. Just need to get the 2.0mm thick PC sandwich plate & I’ll have every plate I want for my F1!
All this talk about plates. I ordered some alu plates from keyspensory.
5 plates gets you free shipping, so I figured why not. No idea on quality–I really hope it’s properly cut/deburred. Straight from China so it’s hopeful.
Got one for my BD60, Dolphin60, Midway60, and a couple for gummy oring boards.
My POM plates are great but on certain boards have this resonance. Might get a plate for the Capy if the quality’s good.
Huh I thought I remembered keyspensory being an NA vendor in Cali, but I’m prob just confusing them with another Cali vendor with a similar “weed” inspired name that I’m forgetting atm.
Ha. I bought some Aflion haze switches from them a couple of years ago. Never paid attention to where they were based but like you, assumed it was Cali. Now that I think about it, I think I remember the shipping taking a while so I wondered if it came out of Canada.
Haha I have no idea, but it sounds like they run their operation out of China from the interaction on Discord.
The plates are definitely straight out of China, though, but in this case it might be a good thing. For what it’s worth, China has all the manu and production capabilities that America does not–the one time I got an ano’d alu plate from SendCutSend a couple years ago, it cost over $100 and all the edges were super poorly deburred. I had to file down the inside of every switch hole and all the super sharp edges by hand. Never again.
Guess I’ll have to see what the quality is like with them.
I ordered 7/1–they have a production time of about 15days. I do wonder how quickly they actually do things since I also joined the Rin60 GB through them lol.
Yeah lets us know how the plates turn out! Getting alum plates cut in the US or CA is prohibitively expensive for one offs, plus like you said you usually gotta worry about QC on top of the high prices. The only place I’ve had alum plates cut from that came out perfectly was Hype KB, but it costs about $75 for a TKL sized plate cut & shipped to the US.
Order a batch of the new Alexotos x Typeplus Granite switches. Wanted to get the NK x TP Classic Blues too, but the only differences between the 2 switches is the top housing on the granites is milky blended nylon while the classic blue is just blended nylon. Also the spring weighting, with blues being the heavier of the two.
Grabbed some proper lube and a 6-buck pack of 80gf springs from the big A’s Prime Days. You lunks finally made me decide I’m going to crack open some switches and see if I cant make a cheap heavy linear that I’ll like, so the initial experiments will be on various Outemu et al reds sitting in jars in my drawer full of such jars.
Older less refined switches are the best to start off with lubing wise IMO, so those older Outemu reds should be perfect! They really show you how much lube can affect the feel & sound of a switch, also gives you a canvas to zero in on how you like your switches lubed as you can feel the differences much better IME. Let us know how it goes when you get that stuff!
I’ve really slowed down on keyboard purchases this year for a wide variety of reasons, but I wanted to freshen up the boards I already own. What better way to do that but with new plates and switches?
I already have a dozen or more sets of switches I’ve never mounted and I just put in an order for some POM plates from Green Door Geeks for some of my under-utilized boards:
I also have a Salvation case and FR plate but did not buy the PCB at the time. Fixed that now with a hotswap Salvation PCB from Keyboard Treehouse. No idea how they still have those in stock, but the plate price and shipping were very reasonable!
I purchased a Cycle7 PCB some time ago:
TKD Cycle7 Cycle8 keyboard PCB hotswap wired model - AliExpress 7
My Cycle7 is perfectly fine, but the bottom-out is a bit harsh. The 1.2mm PCB might be flexier. If I ever decide to rebuild, it could be a good basis. Reviews say the replacement PCBs are better than the stock ones - who knows?
I want a pink ano 2.0 and a pink ano jane v2. I want a few lz. I want the 75% special edition and a couple tkl’s. I want the gon crystal tkl. I want og olivetti ansi. I haven’t been into this stuff in the sense of ordering things for a little while now. I’ve been a sleepy boy
Huge fleabay score today! Snagged a super clean Reveal KB-7061 ergonomic keyboard for $33 in an auction! Well $33 for the board then $67 shipping since it’s coming from the Netherlands, plus any goofy tariff the expired orange may or may not have in effect when it gets to me…

that’s awesome. grats! I’ll have to add this to my watch list
Thanks man! Yeah I’ve been wanting one of these for a hot min now, just never came across the right deal. Saw the auction was over in like an hr this morning so raised the bid a dollar over the current highest bid, but forgot to go back when the auction was closing! Went to check on it after I remembered & was sure someone would’ve out bid me (I’ve seen these go for close to $200 in just meh shape). To my surprise I won!
Anyways I do see these pop up on e-bay a decent bit, I don’t think they are super rare boards. Definitely less common than non ergo boards, but still somewhat easy to find. They also are sold under the Addison KB-7001 name, so keep any eye out for those as well.
I’m keenly aware of our recent “keyboard traps,” but I did indeed step right in one. Got MT3 Infinity War open box on Amazon for $47. I figure MT3 will be less tempting for scammers than Cherry, plus I’m a good little consumer who doesn’t return too many things so The ‘Zon hasn’t nerfed my return privileges.
Frankly most of the novelties will never ever see the light of day, but I might end up using one of the Caps Locks as Enter on a no-stabs board. The rest of it is really quite a traditional-feeling colorway for the hobby. If anyone got theirs in the Drop clearance a few years back and wants to beat Amazon‘s price, let me know, LOL! Would also happily trade most of those novelties for someone’s unused F-Row. I think that would be all I needed to populate my “big dumb button” no-stabs battle cruiser.
Also got some cheap screw-in stabs and a five buck set of CSA/MSA/YSA/whateverSA in WOB, because I’m fond of the profile. It will go nicely with the six buck set of BOW already sitting on my shelf of keycaps. I actually refrained from getting the $26 Tide65 in purple anodized, though I understand that’s a really good price for a board that was only mildly disappointing at $100. EDIT: Nevermind. I ordered it. In my defense, it’s thirty bucks. You can’t find an empty case for thirty bucks.
Ordered two Bolsalice PCBs from Bolsa Supply as they are finishing clearing out everything and had them marked down + the clearance discount. That means I will have three extra PCBs for that board and will be more inclined to try another configuration now that I won’t have to use the extra PCB I do have and/or bother desoldering the current build.
I really like having extra, unused PCBs lying around just in case something happens and/or I decide to sell a board it’s nice having an unused PCB to include with it (and I don’t own a desoldering gun and I refuse to desolder an entire board by hand).
