5 column number pad is an interesting choice. What is the rationale behind that?
Maybe additional macro keys, and the ESC key nearly at the optimal position on your left.
I add another column in number pad mainly for copy and paste keys, moving my hand to Ctrl + C/V is not very productive.
the keys on the extra column are: Esc, Alternate Mode, Copy, Paste, Comma
- The Esc key on the left feels surprisingly “natural” (for F-row-less keyboard), at least for me
- Alternate Mode: just for switching default layer; I have a left-hand mode, same Fn but “flip” the board over. (Fn + Q gives P, for example) - the fourth led will lit up in this mode.
- Copy: Ctrl + Insert; better than Ctrl + C, imo, as it also works in terminal windows
- Paste: Shift + Insert; same reason as above
- Comma: very little use but it is useful.
My question now is: how long did it took to make from design start to finish ?
Corne I build just before Christmas (kit from BoardSource, Boba U4s, keycaps currently from the acute set that comes with Dorp Preonic while waiting on orders), on a mito godspeed deskmat that arrived last week. Up higher is a slightly failed very first attempt at building anything, a sweet16 (14 after my mistakes) from 1up.
Very nice!
Is it e-white or powder coated ?
it’s white corian, the stuff they make countertops out of
Oh, super original idea !
This looks really nice, and it explain the thick bezels (which I like).
Excited to get a peek at the first board that might actually ship with a corian housing! Can’t believe nobody has done a board with this material before!
(jokes aside, I love that you’re doing this and it looks really fantastic. Hope it feels as good as it looks!)
I so want this.
it’s feels pretty amazing. I’ll have to post an exploded diagram of the construction
That’d be really awesome! I’m super excited to see what kinds of experiences and typing feelings we can create by playing with the materials we use for boards.
You’ve never read about the saga of the Lumina group buy?
This one looks better IMHO.
Haha, yes I heard of this one.
Was it corian ?
EDIT: yes it was.
coriander was inspired by lumina…it’s actually going to be produced by the same guy who did the prototypes for lumina XD. Why they ever decided to try and produce them in house I will never understand. I’ve been working with Chris now for a few years and we’ve got a pretty damn good work relationship.
Ahem, yes, let’s please not mention the cough (Lumina). I’m out a lot of $$$ on that GB.
Oh yeah I feel that one, I paid for one of the potential 65% that was going to be made alongside, and those were never made. RIP to me on that one
(also was offered one of the protos of a very expensive board, but being humble I couldn’t just take it, and I kinda regret it now lol)
