I built a new board this weekend!

Specs:
KBD8x MKII
Pewter Switches. 203 lube, filmed. Aliaz 80g on the space, lubed and filmed.
Durock stabs. I think they might be v2, but I am not sure. Previous buyer gave them with PCB.
Brass plate, using Gummy worm mod.

Thoughts:
Really solid board. This thing is heavy! I bought it second hand and I think I got a pretty good deal on it. Only real build issues I had was that the previous buyer did a good job desoldering it (likely used a gun), but there was flux everywhere. I tried my best to clean it all, but there are still some sticky spots on the bottom of the PCB. I likely need to take it apart and clean it again in the future. What is the best way to get flux off? I tried 91% rubbing alcohol and a toothbrush, but still struggled to get everything.

The other issue I ran into was that my PCB foam prevented my gummy o-ring from staying on. I had to trim the overhanging, foam with an exacto knife. I probably scratched my plate a bit despite how careful I was, but I am not too worried about it since it is on the underside. I have some o-rings that were recommended on here to try out burger mount, but I suspect that the two mounting styles won’t really produce much change.

This is my first brass board in a long time. The sound is great like it should be, but I think I might re-build this in the future. I have really been liking plastic plates, and the bottom out on this is just a tad harsh.

Pewter switches are pretty fun, I need to give them some more time after lubing and filming them. They are probably about as close to linear as I am willing to get. I don’t think I would compare them to Ergo Clears, but they do seem like an improved Brown. It has been ages since I have typed on Browns through…

One final thing I was proud about with this build, I got my stabs tuned right on the first try! If you are not using a syringe to inject permatex, I would highly suggest it. I don’t think it really provides anything revolutionary, but it is nice being about to put lube right where you need and not get it all over your hands.

Cheers!

I figured that would happen, so I bought 4 when I got mine.

Noob question here, but what is the bottom key for besides to look so freaking awesome?

key

Lol! Well first of all, I wanted to have a T nav rather than the cross nav, hence the rearrangement. I programed the bottom key as a windos key since the 122s are winkeyless.

Finally got a USB switcher so I can just use one keyboard for both work and home pc. Kbd75 is my favorite right now because it has the U4T switches in them. next in my desk will be a Soya Kara.
