Nah man. That color choice was fire. The alu (or brass?) cap ties it all in even more, too
Big 'ol brass one. Had to use a heavy duty dome to support it, but I probably went overkill there.
Yup, agree that this color looks really good!
Probably too late and not sure if it would work, but my son paints warhammer miniatures and he just bought “Pro Acryl metallic medium” which adds a metallic shine to whatever paint he adds it to,
Not a bad idea. I had started to entertain the idea of having it hydro-dipped. I know a place that does one-off work so if I get bored with the blue I can change it up.
You will make a fine dad some day.
Man, that’s just perfect.
Okay, I haven’t built a custom keyboard yet, nor do I have pics available atm.
However, I do have a Ducky One 3 TKL Fuji on my desk with Gateron Yellow KS-3s in all but the number row, where I have lightly lubed Kinetic Labs Salmons with KL 53g symmetric long springs (the Salmons come with 63.5g versions of these).
I wanted to try them once the springs came in, but I’d already swapped back my Gateron Yellows after the stock springs in the Salmons were too stiff for the ulnar side of my left hand.
…aaaand otherwise I’ve lubed the stabs, arrows, modifiers, home cluster, and left hand alphas. So it’s an odd experience rn (but it’s mine). Slow and steady!
Did you remove some of the factory oil? Just wiping it off with swabs? Just curious.
I had to hit the stems and tops with the ultrasonic cleaner, but ended up just flipping the bottoms upside down and letting them drip-dry on a paper towel for a full day. I usually only lube the bottoms, so it was just a matter of removing all the excess oil from the pieces I usually leave unmodded.
real foroe
This board was in 87u config till I got ahold of an 89u case. Took out purple sliders for black and tape modded it. I now love this board. Stupidly small tweaks to make it a keeper. No one needs multiple 55g TKLs…or do they?
If there’s a “correct” number of keyboards to own I don’t think I’ve hit it yet.
If keyboards are anything like bicycles, the number you’re looking for is n+1.
Exactly - and for anyone unfamiliar with the formula, n = the number you currently have.
I was thinking of being smart with y’all and saying -1 keebs, but I guess if you’re in debt you have to pay up…
A new deskmat, my tester / daily driver keeb, and my trusty mouse.
Zoomed-out a bit to show the whole mat / my desk. Now also visible, my OD-green & black controller.

Also for those of us with significant others the n+1 equation can be rewritten as s-1 where s = the number of keyboards owned that would result in separation from your partner.
