What is on your desk today?

I realize that the wire helps stabilize the stab slider, but is it only the outer ring of the slider shaft that keeps 2u+ caps from teeter tottering (especially with the MX ones)? Granted they were designed for a cap with a different stem.

@fatalruin let’s see. on my mx-modded realforce r2, the stabbed keys are indeed only mounted by the center stem, but i’ve not really noticed any appreciable wobble. my r2 is running Des 1u and kbdfans 2u. you have to (pardon the invention) tech-deck on the keycap to get it to move. i’m assuming most people do not type like below.

Some random internet people did! Clearly they are the authority. :joy:

I put together the Heavy Grail K2 a couple days ago and I’m in love. I’m enjoying it stock for now before I start modding.

The bottom row and the right shift and Fn are from HHKB Hybrid Type-S snow. The rest are from R3 realforce for Mac.

I have other plans for Dandy/Daisy later, but here it is on my Lubrigante. :relaxed:

Here are two small updates:

• The ‘uni-material’ legend infill process is now very solid. All in all, there is minimal cleanup to do. I’d say it’s 95% there, a proper magnifying lens should help in getting to 99%

• Started experimenting with a red color I had around. It’s quite the ‘Cherry’, the red I’m going for will be RAL 3001. These are my second print at 0.03 mm, and I’m very pleased with the quality.

Edit: these are straight from the lab, no surface finishing yet.

That’s all for today — happy weekend.
Thank you.

Looks like candy

I think I finally have an endgame on my desk.

WKL MK I Norbaforce in Royal Wrinkle, built with BKE Heavies V1, Silenced, with 108ug Hi-Pro keycaps.

This thing feels and sounds amazing!

Been pretty much checked out of the game for a while, but I couldn’t resist this all brass, powder coated Kyuu when randomly scrolling through mm

DCS Paperwork

Oh man, I’m in love with this.

So worth the wait.

Outemu Silent Lemons - Pairing these relatively thin caps with some silent light tactiles (that also happen to match the green in the set), and so far I’m loving the combination.

This isn’t the first DCS set I’ve purchased, but it is the first one I’ve used for myself; I think I’m an immediate fan, here. One more shoutout to 3DKeebs for helping make the set happen.

Easily my favorite SP set so far.

Edit; tonight’s build sounds like this:

Edit edit: ha, the F and J are reversed. I’ll fix it later.

(hm, seems like JPEG compression is kicking in badly on these uploads)

It’s a strange mix of colors, but somehow they work out well

(edit - the colors are much bolder in real life)

This is where I’d put my Heavy Grail, IF I HAD ONE

Jokes aside, I bought this HHKB months ago to use as parts for my HG build but I haven’t really used it much. One thing that always surprises me when I do pull this one out is how noisy it is; my only other HHKB is silenced, and this one chatters just from having my fingers resting on the homerow.

Less related to the keyboard, but I’m happy with myself at how much more comfortable I am typing on blanks now. I’ve been making an effort to type without staring at my hands this year (I really never grew out of that habit even after I had developed muscle memory for typing) and aside from HHKB’s wacky fn-layer layout I’m able to use this board just fine now. I still end up looking at my hands for some shortcuts and passwords (which feels odd with blanks, but does still improve my accuracy somehow) but for normal typing I’m definitely noticing a difference :slightly_smiling_face:
