What is on your desk today?

Sweet! Blank HHKB is like diving into the deep end of touch typing, ye. Glad you’re getting a hang of it

Every now and then, I find myself using a completely Keebtalk-sourced build :innocent:

Lovely Boba U4s from @Deadeye sandwiched between an elegant Nunu and FW from @Manofinterests, and all of it sitting on @norbauer’s classy (comfy?) Palm Desert desk mat.

Rebuilt a Wood Tofu with Outemu Red Panda switches (Iron Man switches? Outemu McDonald?, hehe). The are factory lubed, and are smooth with medium tactility. They could do with a little oil on the springs to clean up the spring sound, but this will now be my recommended tactile for lazy people who want a stock switch with less of a tactile bump than the HP/Anubis/Boba/Bluish White class of switch.

Jellyfish Clickies

These are available in both linear and clicky; the only difference being the inclusion or exclusion of the torsion spring click-bar. That also means you can convert the clickies to linear and back, as well as mod them with other click-bars from other Kailh switches. This is true for all the Kailh Box clickies.

What really drew me to these, though, is that as far as I’m aware, this is the first clicky switch to use the circle-shroud / tighter-taper housing version of the Box design. That means they should be friendly with just about any MX-based keycap regardless of their mounting direction.

I don’t know why I still care about this - I have… maybe two North Facing PCBs… I think it’s that they fit my vision of an ever more accessible keyboard building experience. These little guys are versatile and easy to mod - they’re also pleasantly light while retaining all the crispiness you’d expect from a Kailh Box clicky. I haven’t tried all of those, but they’re just a bit lighter than a Box White.

Also they’re clear. (So hot right now)

Here’s what they sound like; un-tuned thunk-y space bar warning:

Snowed-out the Halo - and flipped the space bar. There we go.

Also, how 'bout those stab tolernaces? They do feel very… stable

Those colors with the yellowed case look so sick.

Honestly Im probably going to put that set on a less yellowed board at some point, but it is pretty cool for now.

I was considering the all-blue variant for my Brutal65 v2 but didn’t want to spend the money rn. But I really like the set despite not being a space buff per se.
