Today I’m using my Onxy that I built with Invokeys Black Sesame switches.

It’s a nice pairing and I’m very happy with the look and sound.

That is a dandy fine pairing! Very nice board too.

You should totally publish a fancy coffee table book of your entire collection.

I got some serious coding to do this week, so this little guy made it into the rotation. When I code (or try to), I do so on the slower side, resting my hands on the keys while IntelliSense does it’s thing. I must say, those SPRiT MX Slow Extreme II springs at 65g are amazing in this capacity. With that extra +3g at the top, unintentional actuation is a thing of the past plus all the keycaps feel solid af. None of that weird keycap to stem to top housing crunch when you mistakenly tap the keycap. I love that.

What’s weird too, and I’m still getting use to, is that since the top actuation force exceeds the actual force it takes to bottom out, even a 65g feels really light – maybe closer to a 55g in sound and feel. It’s so weird, but I’m starting to appreciate the amount of switch control I have during the entire keystroke.

Finally, back to the workshop and printed the first batch of six for this keycap set.

Going withwhite legends for better contrast. Coincidentially, the Topre 39-AA-0101 has a sibling from NEC with white legends.

Have a great weekend everybody.

I had the opportunity to print batches 1-3 of 4 of the blue caps for the past three days. Hopefully I’ll be able to finish the set during the week.

Giving those Moondrop Lunalight linears a try in the NuPhy Halo65.

I figured a dampened tray-mount keeb would be a decent first test for “audiophile switches” - I’m just getting started with them, but I have to say, I’m not disappointed so far. Here’s what they sound like in the Halo:

The impression I’m getting is that these have little to no metallic noise, and are pretty much all Nylon snap (with a touch of swish). Delightful! Nothing too fancy, just a tried and true format executed well.

A lack of metallic noise is something I value, especially in a switch that’s supposed to be about sound. I’ll be spending a good bit of time with these and I’ll let you know if my first impression changes - but right now I’d say they at least don’t fail my personal sniff-test for “audiophile”. They aren’t blowing my mind with novel tones or anything, but making a Nylon switch sound and feel this clean from the factory is a feat as far as I’m concerned. It’s more about what I don’t hear in that recording:

  • No crunch
  • No crinkle
  • No ping
  • No rattle
  • Not even scratch

Not bad!

Here’s a not so good picture of my first nicePBT set on Oxymoron. They’re… nice! Consistent colors and legends. Most interestingly they interact better with stabilizers than most of my other keycap sets (CRP, gmk) in that they make certain tick-prone stabs not tick. The pesky pictured iso enter is a bit screwy with CRP (not making a consistent upstroke sound/feel, tx stab) but is totally fine with this set.

I’m thinking this might be related to minor keycap warpage, though the tested CRP and gmk caps don’t appear warped at all. I need to do more testing…

There was a bit of space left on the build plate today…

So just for shits and giggles

Not being a native speaker, I hope I use the term correctly.

For shifts and giggles would be more appropriate for keebs :rofl:

Holy cow, that’s really cool. It looks injection molded if I didn’t know better. Nice work!

Hey, those sound pretty nice. The Tessence ones have a really calming pastel vibe. Is Dorp (pre-order) the only vendor at the moment?

I’m really enjoying the linears so far, I’ll be trying those Tessence tactiles next. The color kinda makes me think of hospital scrubs. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m pretty sure they are, at least in this hemisphere. I think I saw maybe one site in Hong Kong selling them - kinda thought Moondrop would talk about them on their website but I didn’t see any obvious mentions.

Is this really 3d printed ???

Yes, the blue one.

And after 30 seconds with 2000 grit sandpaper on the areas where the slider travels, it feels just a smooth if not smoother than the original black one.

I was a bit bummed with the thickness of the legends nicePBT usually goes with, but this sets colorway makes them a way better fit then narrow ones. Very nice bud.

To provide more context: It is printed at 0.03 mm layer height with an ‘engineering’ grade resin on a Mars 2 Pro printer.
