Lovely looking board but it’s honestly very much out of my reach price-wise. I appreciate the offer though!
I’ll add my MTNU Dolch pic too. Haven’t changed my keebs in soo long.
Type feel is great. I can feel cherry profile and its edges, while mtnu is so soft and almost disappears while you’re typing.
Accidentally posted this in the wrong thread xD
Edit: Oh my. I see a hair.
This is a great way to describe the feel, they do have an almost soft feel to them & are less obtrusive than Cherry profile in use! Glad to hear you are liking MTNU too!
Edit: Forgot to say looks great on your board!
How do you feel about MTNU R2? I like the profile overall, but I really hate the forward angle that R2 has which reminds me of SA or KAT. I feel like I’m hitting a key off-angle or something when I touch that row as my finger kinda stoves into the slope. Maybe it’s just a fat finger problem, lol. I like how cherry profile is more or less flat across the rows at the proper incline.
Honestly while it does have that forward angle & that is something I do not like about SA or KAT as well, with MTNU it does not bother me nearly as much. It does feel a little weird compared to Cherry R2 at first, but I’ve already adjusted in just a couple days to it, where I could never quite get used to it with SA. The lower height of MTNU makes a world of difference for me. I can’t say it’ll be the same for you, but I do encourage you to give the profile a try still.
Right now my MTNU WoB set is mounted on my Meridian. Maybe the all the angles are playing into my perception. I’ll have to pop the set on a traditional layout board and access it again.
A fun Saturday afternoon diversion:
Filco MJ2 Hakua fullsize with DCS Delftware
I picked this up ages ago as a planned gift but ended up doing something else for that, so I’ve just had this sitting around since.
Mostly just an aesthetics build for now; I think I might put it on a wall shelf in the kitchen
The caps are quite nice to use, though, so who knows - I might desolder all 104 Cherry MX Silent Reds, salvage the switch parts, and put in something more to my tases
Isn’t it pretty, though?
the keyboard you get with buying a quantum computer
nice keycaps
Really simple build that comes together nicely
I love this set. Really does portray that porcelain dish look perfectly.
Built a Monsgeek M2 for/with my neighbor.
The switches are Gateron Oil Kings and she got the keycaps from Amazon. The listing actually says “GMK Lilac” but uhhhh… they were $30 lol. So I’m gonna go ahead and assume she unknowingly picked up clones.
For a ~$120 kit, it wasn’t bad. Full aluminum case. It comes with plenty of foam, decent screw in stabs, an optional tape mod sheet, anti static sheet, teflon force break mod strips, and was supposed to come with stab pads, but mine were missing. It feels and sounds pretty good.
Finally got around to building this. Took it to a local meetup this last Sunday.
Line Friends TKL
Plate - PP
Mount - Top Mount (picture says o-ring but I have sense switched)
Switches - Cherry Hyperglide Browns. Lubed with 205g0 on the back and rails. Filmed with Deskey films.
Keycaps - GMK Moomin
Extra notes: O-ring was my original plan but the o-ring was pretty tight in there leading to a stiffer feel. Decided to try top mount and the overall sound didn’t change much, which is good, and I got the added benefit of slightly more flex.
I grabbed this in silver with Mooomin in mind. I remember being interested in this set during IC, but didn’t pull the trigger. Ultimately I was kind of happy in the end cause there were color matching issue when it finally come out. Not a set that I wanted for myself anymore, but I won this one in a larger meetup last summer. Overtime it has really grown on me. I think it is heavily dependent on white or silver boards to show off the pastel colors, and lighting is a big factor too, but I think it pops in natural lighting. Personally I like to down play the pink keys in favor of the other colors.
Gorgeous!!
Actually, it is called Delftware or Delft Blue; from the city Delft in the Netherlands.
Looks great on the clear Bauer Light! Also I am a huge fan of 21Kb & JC Studios sets, definitely some of the best bang for your buck PBT out there IMHO!
Reworked my layout just a bit. Still have 5u worth of spacebar-y-ness, but put Fn and RAlt into a tap-hold situation. This also lets me get PgUp and PgDn, which I use quite a bit, out of layer purgatory. Aesthetically, I also think it’s a bit nicer than the black and white mini-spaces.
