Word, thanks for the comparison! Make me feel much better about going with red alert over lam alert. Don’t get me wrong lam alert is very nice too, but I wanted that crisp white with red look when I bought this set. Also looks great on the NCR80! I see you went with the winged mods too, something so cool about them to me LOL!
I really like the ease of use of a unibody sometimes, so I found a way to mimic the functionality of a unibody with the flexibility of a split when I want it.
I’m using an aluminum laptop bridge as the base and MagSafe stands for the split mounts.
The battery and MagSafe stands are attached to the laptop bridge with little pieces from this 3m self mating fastener strip Amazon.com
Just finished this self designed hand wire build called Blatherskite. Stacked stainless steel and copper (with forced patina).
Open sourced - GitHub - ElKinoflop/Keyboards: Overview of keyboard designs
Now that is a sick self-made board my friend.
Very novel work! I see a lot of gorgeous and unique designs on your GitHub
Do you have any photos or videos of the NeoPixel Featherwing working on the Blatherskite

Thanks ![]()
Here’s a gif or I added it to the repo

This is gorgeous!!!
Wow that is pretty
Switched Switches on the Chiff+ (again). Came with Geon x Haimu Blacks which I basically liked, but were just too heavy. So I tried Gateron Pro Yellows for a few days now, but they always feel kind of strange. I guess the feeling is what I would consider when talking about a “slow spring”, however I can’t find anything in that term on them.
So, got a bunch of Gateron Melodic today and rebuilt. Also switched to HSA beige on brown.
I love the whole composition of this picture. Something about the tiny unibody split and the desk mat gave me the heaviest nostalgia flashback I’ve had in some time. Brought me right back to the late ‘90s and elementary school…
Love that combo
I love this. Will have to check out the GitHub later!
Thanks for the nice comments everyone. If anyone does want to make one and has any questions then just ask. Also if you want any changes to the files but aren’t confident doing them yourself then I’m happy to make them.
I did not expect that, but I really like that reaction
Also hard to not love Busy Town, best Deskmat all over, hands down.
These remind me of the Tut yakeylt keycaps (my favorite set so far)
Extremely cool and beautiful work
Twofer.
Last week:
NK Classic TKL
Domikey Hush keycaps
Swagkeys Knight stabilizers
Lichicx (
RIP) Raw Tactile (big bump)
I love how much this one changes with the per-key lighting.
This week:
Dorp CSTM80 w/Chroma PVD case bezel
Little Cutie Designs Workshop Purple Zinc Alloy keycaps
Invokeys Daydreamer silent tactile switches
Wuque Studio screw-in stabilizers V3.1
My biggest complaint about the metallic keys is that the F and J keys “clonk” when the switch housing collides with the keycap. From the looks of it, I just need to take a dremel to remove the slightly raised “nubbins” that aren’t on the other R3 caps.
(I’d normally call them injection mold markings but I don’t imagine they’re doing (liquid) metal injection molding for this. Probably sintering?)
Being zinc, I believe those actually are molding marks. I think those caps are formed by molds with the metal in a liquid molten state. Compared with steel and even aluminum, zinc has a relatively low melting temperature and is easier to mold than machine IIRC.
Either way, dremeling should work fine to remove them, though there’s a chance it might clog an abrasive bit with the relatively soft material in the process.
Huh, you’re right, zinc has an absurdly low melting point – 419C. Learned something new today!
