What keyboard trap do you fall into over and over again?

I’m terrible at keeping my keycaps catalogued, organized, and at hand. I fall into the trap of “I’m going to try this set of caps on my board so I’ll just put the relevant keys on and then put whatever other keycaps I had on it in place of the new ones” Instantly fragmenting my keycap sets (which I paid good money for) making it hard to find what I need when I need it and having all my caps be hopelessly mixed up. Ugh. I hate it. Why do I do it?

The obvious solution is to spend half a day going through all my boards and caps and sorting them back out (and hoping I haven’t lost any!)

Don’t be like me, folks.

I took me a decade to finally sit down and get mine all organized. But it’s all in a spreadsheet now and I can access everything so fast! The amount of hours it has cut down on me looking for keycaps is incentive enough to keep up the organization. Took me about two weeks to get it all noted, but it was definitely wort the effort. I used Notion with some relational databases but even a simple excel spreadsheet would help a lot.
