Not sure if this has been posted already. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vW12gQ4Klc

They even open sourced it.

Just saw a confirmation on discord today that DCS Superweld will run with Novelkeys Q1 2026

It saw that too! It’s the time for DCS apparently! If DCS Dolch runs, along with the monokits and DCS Superweld, oooof! I’m going to need to sell all my other keycaps and only have DCS

Interesting. One offhand remark was that they “tried using the entire keyboard as a mouse.” Aside from the difficulty of pushing that much bulk around, I wonder what they found with this approach that was suboptimal. Seems smart!

I would guess typing on a slippery mouselike platform would get annoying pretty quickly. That was definitely a chuckle worthy snippet though.

I really want to see this thing machined out of aluminum with a brass weight :joy:

I can imagine one reason: if you move the “mouse” to the top of the screen, e.g. to click a tool inside microsoft word, you then have to pull the “keyboard” all the way back down to a reasonable distance for elbow/shoulder ergonomics to start typing again. This is a lot of un-do/re-do actions for simple, common interactions that will result almost every single time one moves their “mouse”, and then almost always makes sure the “mouse” has to move long distances to fulfill its function, rather than being able to be “parked” somewhere on the screen.

I suppose there’s no harm in building something like this for a very specific request and I respect that they open sourced it rather than trying to extort insurance companies a la Matias.

But I can’t understand why they’d dismiss one-handed keyboards with layers so quickly. Sure the learning curve is steeper but long-term it would be such an easier experience.

I even heard Paperwork coming around for another run :tada:

i think a lot of may come down to that use case already being adequately served (and therefore also not being effective marketing, LOL). There are people chin-deep in the hobby who chafe at adding more layers, and this was a little kid. If this makes her more efficient and hits her brain in a cleaner way than layers, then that can only be a good thing.

jumping off, has anybody tried those switches before?

Wait - is that true? DCS or DSS? I mean I would probably love either….

@pixelpusher no 6u centered right? im having a hell of a time looking at the layout on imgur

I’d have to call my perception of it an unconfirmed rumor - I think DCS? Saw some folks talking about it on discord but I haven’t seen anything official.

I know you tagged pixelpusher, but looks like no 6u yet - 6.25u, 7u, 10u, and minibars are there. Here’s the [IC] DCS Superweld | NK_ like if you can get that to load! In discord they said:

Kitting will be adjusted before GB so please continue to make suggestions, all will be considered.

EDIT: Someone in discord already suggested 6u, and it’s got a few :+1: so maybe it will be added!

Signature Plastics’ DCS flex kit color survey is up: DCS ABS Flex Keyset Voting - Bob wants your top five colors! It is really hard to tell what color they actually are from the form, but I assume a lot of these have been used in sets….like RFJ is in the magenta in the R4 accents, and I think BBI is the blue accent in SMRT and YY was the yellow. I’m still having trouble deciding!

Correct on the SMRT colors! GD was Oblivion/Symbiosis grey, and BO/BBJ are Dasher and Dancer blues. RDE is Grand Budapest purple, and OBC is Carbon orange.

Haven’t watched myself, but have it queued up for tonight.

Just finished it up. If you’ve been following the Seneca there’s not a TON new here, but it’s really interesting, often aspirational in the best sense of that word, and it’s fun also to see Adam Savage geeking out over the extravagance and seeing how a “famous” enthusiast is trying to appreciate the art while simultaneously dodging rabbit holes.

Brief Keebtalk shoutout at the end as well. We’re going to see literally TENS of new sign-ups!

Towards the end of the interview the Seneca guy knows to express very eloquently what us generation X’ers is driving here. Love that.

Keyreative done a cool thing:r/MechanicalKeyboards - { Tool or Toy } Keyreative unveils double-shot Legends on the side for KAP MV Classic|750xauto

Side doubleshot you say?

https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/1mv3qul/tool_or_toy_keyreative_unveils_doubleshot_legends/

Legends that are first doubleshot, then optionally dyesubbed. Looks snazzy! I see great possibilities for retro sets (think Commodore 64, Atari 8-bit, etc).

Damn, that’s impressive.
