Drop has 3 different MT3 base kits on sale for $39 each

They still have the tax discount thingy going Take Back Your Tax | Drop

I love the MT3 3277 colorway; it’s clean and simple. It looks better to me in person than it does in photos/renders.

New Wuque Studio stabs that seem to make a lot of sense - TPU wrapping of the wire ends or silicone inside the stem, clipping in from the bottom (so the wire can’t pop out), ribs to stop the stem from getting sluggish due to river overlubing…

Looks interesting, though the tolerances seem quite big, looks like it would be similar to TX stab’s stem having too much wiggle room and hitting the housing, TX already made a revision adressing that.

Also the left stab has the stem resting on one of the prongs, the stem might catch on it during use.

They do look interesting. However I would worry about wear on the TPU one where it clips into the housing.

Very curious to try these but I’m all stab’d out. :stuck_out_tongue: I’m glad to see softer materials as a trend, though - another year or two and we might have some fully-developed solutions on our hands.

Modest sale on Baby Kangaroos, basically a Gat Pro 2.0 tactile with a top bump.

I think I’d probably grab these if I hadn’t dropped my wallet on 160 Clickiez earlier this month…

I tried something like this several months back with some heat-shrink tubing after watching a Youtube video from RAMA on modding stabilizers. I only put the tubing at the end of the wire, and away from the bend.

I still ended up lubing the stems and housings as usual, but there was no ticking and they didn’t seem sluggish to me. I used a 80/20 mix of 205 and 105 as lube.

After learning how to properly balance wires and buying better quality stabs, I haven’t needed to repeat the mod, but it does seem to work…

Guys. I bought)
Version similar to TX. They’ll come soon.
And gmk stabilizers are already on their way.

BUT I buy stabilizers simply. Just a collection
Someone switches, but I have stabilizers and switches and keycaps)
This is no longer a rabbit hole. And the bear’s den. :upside_down_face: :upside_down_face: :upside_down_face: :upside_down_face:

When asked: - what kind of stabilizers?
Me: - yes

Yeah, from a mechanical point of view, it is really terrible how stabilisers are designed.

That makes me wonder how a Swiss watch maker would go about designing a stabiliser. They would probably come with a completely out of the box solution.

… but the stabilizers would cost $14k and it would take six years of apprenticeship before you could repair them yourself.

Does anyone know if the UHMWPE in this switch is the same material as in Gateron’s Hippo switches? If so… at least in my experience the amount of UHMWPE is pretty negligible.

I used to think MX stabs sucked. Until I met ALPS stabs. Now I think MX stab design is a gift from heaven.

Now THAT’s a practical big switch.

They post limited promo codes on their discord for most new stuff, I have gotten 20-30% off on switch testers before

Not that I’d actually recommend a Drop Expression keyboard* for anything other than aesthetics, but man do I think this one looks cool:

*Drop’s “Expression” series keyboards are themed versions of the ENTR, which itself is a pretty standard mid-shelf pre-built TKL. They’re white backlit, not hotswap, and generally pretty basic - but it’s still a step-up from plenty of its peers with an aluminum lower tray giving it plenty of structural integrity. The decorated case top is still plastic, though.

As for this version, it’s decked-out in classic Art Deco - right at home in The Great Gatsby, Batman the Animated Series, or indeed Fritz Lang’s Metropolis (a recent and notable inductee to public domain).

Dorp’s marketing calls the PCB in this “enthusiast” - it’s all relative, I guess. Wouldn’t be a Dorp sales page without some Dorpy fluff. :stuck_out_tongue: Still - I absolutely love this visual theme and wouldn’t mind one bit if some artisans, keysets, etc. jumped all over it. KBDfans is currently running an IC for some WoB keysets that include gold sublegends - I’d love to see just a straight-up gold-on-black one, in any profile - and I’d love to see it on this keeb.

This is a pretty neat idea, but I can’t help but think it would immediately look better with some regular WoB keycaps. Perhaps their own DCX brand… but maybe that is what they want.
