My super high tech drying method
I usually put them in a pillowcase after the worst part of the water is gone and spin for king and country and let the centrifugal force do it’s thing.
Nice! I once tricked out a plastic TADA68 with similar bicycle weights. In some cases it even improves the sound. Will be curious if it changes the sound/feel of that old Mac keyboard. Are you going to add foam too, or leave it hollow?
Leave it hollow. This thing has a charm that need not be altered
För kung och fosterland!
I have an odd picture in my mind now… You spinning a pillowcase made of a swedish flagg, just a blurred circle of blue and yellow. Accompanied by the rattling noise of keyboard switches…
I agree, the M0110a’s loud ping is such a classic sound. Its one of the few keyboards I will use just for the sound.
Did you do anything to prep the plate before spraying and praying?
Nah, just hit it. Rustoleum primer + paint gets the job done. Plus, it’s just the plate. It’ll be protected from scratches once everything is reassembled.
Since the FC980 M and C use the same case, I decided to grab my black FC980M from my desk at work (where it hasn’t been used for a year), clean it, and swap the black case with the beige case from my FC980C (which is empty because it’s in the Heavy-9). I have 2 ePBT sets somewhere in storage (beige hiragana and kuro/shiro) that I’ll throw on it later.
These plastic cases are best. Thick injection molded ABS – imo better than any other noname 60% case
I like it. No-nonsense, looks good, has metal threads, gets the job done. Even has convenient places to put the two lead weights I stole from a fullsize GMMK - ha!
I’m about 90% done with this keyboard - the stabs are really awful. They were some no-name ones I’ve had for a long time; I thought they’d be decent, buuut… well. I’ll be upgrading them to Durocks. The rest of the build, though…
Well I’ll get into details when it’s properly done but I’m very pleased with what the burger-mount mod managed to accomplish alongside the Gazzew stems and POM plate. This is one flexy, bouncy little keeb.
