I don’t know what I’m looking at, but it’s beautiful!
Ok, you won
What a beast !
This was supposed to be my 2020 build. Finally got around to putting it together just 3 months late.
Finally got my Optimus Absolute GPU Block FTW3 3080/3090. Swapped out my copper Optimus Absolute Threadripper 3+ CPU Block for a nickel one to match the CPU block.

I swear that looks more like art than an actual machine
Tell me about your temps
With PBO under normal load, most cores sit at 4.275 with a good chunk hitting 4.4 and my best few cores hitting 4.6. Liquid temp is usually around 29C, Average temp is 53C under normal and gaming workloads, max temp is 63C. Temps are a bit difficult keep track of without keeping an eye on clocks as well given how the algorithms shifts clocks around.
As far as GPU, while gaming, I never see over 39C gaming.
My computer is so full of dust all the time even with a case with filters I can’t imagine how filthy an open case would get within like a month, how often do you have to clean that?
don’t know yet. though I’m on the 13th floor of a building so there’s a lot less dust and particles compare to living off ground or lower levels for sure
Oh yeah that’ll make a big difference I bet. I’ve always wanted to live in a high rise just for like the experience of it (even though I’m like pretty scared of heights). I do have my computer in a room with a window that’s often open out towards a pretty busy street and that probably doesn’t help
Didn’t realize we had a pc thread! Took this shot a little while back.
- Cooler Master Nr200
- Ryzen 3600
- 5700xt Nitro+
- 16gb DDR4
- Corsair sf750
Thinking I’ll ditch the HDD and SSD for one big ass m.2 drive soon.
AMD Ryzen 7 5700G 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor
Gigabyte B550I AORUS Pro AX AMD AM4 Mini-ITX Motherboard
Thermalright AXP-90R Full Copper Low Profile CPU Air Cooler
Noctua NF-A9x14 HS-PWM chromax.Black Fan
1TB Gigabyte Aorus NVMe PCIe Gen4 SSD
32GB (2x16GB) G.Skill Trident Z Neo @ 3600MHz CL16
Not From Concentrate Skyreach 4 Tiny SFF Case
HDPLEX 200W DC-ATX + Dell 200W Power Brick (Temporary until HDPlex Restocks the 200W AC-DC)
The cost of a free-standing in-room air filter would be worth it for having that open-case hotness on my desk. 8D
I guess I should post my setup lol, Im not using that varmilo board anymore but I plan on using the Aaru keyboard as my main once I get it
New gaming rig is complete! At least until I can get a 3080 for MSRP. No longer using my NAS to run a gaming VM; most of the parts were taken from there or just extra stuff I had lying around so I only had to buy a new CPU, motherboard, and case. The gaming performance isn’t significantly better but the user experience is a massive improvement. Sub-10 second boot time instead of 5 minutes and no more going through a web interface to attach USB devices after plugging them in.
Basically a black mirror when off:

And full-out gaudy RGB when on:

AMD Ryzen 5600x
MSI B550-A Pro motherboard (not planning on much overclocking or multi-use so X570 would be overkill)
Stock CPU cooler
Asus/Nvidia 1660 Super (purchased last year at MSRP)
500GB XPG NVMe Gen3 SSD (will eventually put a Gen4 in the empty slot)
2x16GB Crucial DDR4 3200 memory
Corsair RGB strips with a lighting node pro tucked into the bottom of the case
Fractal Meshify 2 Compact case
Stock case fans with the exception of an extra one zip-tied to the bottom at a 45 degree angle (case allows a max of 3x120mm in the front, but it comes with 2x140mm installed and I had some extra 140s lying around)
Nothing particularly special compared to a lot of the builds on here, but it’s a workhorse and does what it needs to just fine for me. I opened it for bi-yearly cleaning today and threw in some more ram. It’s funny, it seems like computers should be a nice intersection of a few of my hobbies and interests, but nothing aggravates me quite like having to work on my computer, without fail I’m usually pissed off within ten minutes of opening it
Parts:
- some big ass phanteks case - it’s one of the easier ones I’ve had to work with over the years
- asrock steel legend x570 - it’s a motherboard
- AMD 3800X - way more processing power than I need tbh
- 32gb of ram - way plenty
- a bunch of hard drives and SSDs - like 1tb of ssd and 4tb of hdd total I think could almost use another one but probably just need to delete backups
- Sapphire Vega 64 - big ass 2.5 slot GPU that eats a ton of power and is starting to show its age with my much newer 1440 ultra wide 144hz monitor but like it plays league fine so imma wait until GPUs are reasonably priced again
- some little wifi card from when I lived somewhere that didn’t have a wired connection
My desk is hella messy so no desk pic for today here’s a bonus pic PC on the floor where it belongs (but on a little riser so not quite on the floor)
