Post Your Keyboards!

Which board is your favorite? Is it the same one that you use most for work?

Got it 7 months ago but never got round to sharing it:

Bauer Lite (PC):

  • Jwick Black or TTC Bluish White ( chasing the topre feel ) - swap between these every now and then
  • GMK Oblivion v3.1
  • Durock V2 stabs

First custom keyboard that is considered somewhat more than budget that I was able to get after being inside the hobby for over 6 years. GMK Oblivion was on the first custom keyboard that got me interested into keyboards, wanted it ever since.
Couldn’t be happier

I like em all, TBH. I switch keyboards almost constantly. I have a problem.
Right now my most used though is the Silver Frog Mini with SW Graphite and Haimu/Geon Blacks, so that might be my current favorite lol PC plate in frog mini with 50a tadpoles feel so good.

Do I see some temporal layout evolution here?

I like how you reduced the space bar to accommodate for the arrow keys there on your 60%s.

It also must have been a struggle planning and finding matching keycap legends for your layout. Which keycap set fully catered for what you wanted?

Thanks!
The Minila’s unicorn of an R4 1.75u LCtrl was ruining my life so I had to make a couple new layouts to support the usual 1.5u and 1.25u R4 keys.
My biggest challenge now is the 2u+1u shifts, 1u R1 BS, and 1u R4 Delete, but those are usually in child kits. Most of the time I just use novelties to fill them up if I can, but sometimes I am stuck using the Delete key for the 1u BS and fn/code/super for the 1u R4 shift and delete keys. The Lshift can be split too so for sets without a 2u shift like Redline and Wasabi I can just use novelties or 1u shifts. Then I usually use novelties or the code/fn keys for the 1.25 layer mods next to the space bar.
It’s more of a struggle for sets without novelties to not look too weird, like SW Graphite and Olive Noir, but I touch type anyway so I’m never actually looking at the legends, more of an aesthetic thing.
The only weird thing is I have some “super” keebs like the Frog Mini with SW Graphite that has “super” everywhere lol, or “code”
Funny enough, 2u and 2.75u space bars are more common than Minila’s 3u space, as is the 2u stab.
The 2u spacebar is my favorite layout, since it’s right where my right thumb is, it’s all I need, and is perfect for gaming (my POM Sirius with POM keycaps is my gaming board). The 2.75u space sounds richer though. I use Akko cream blacks for some of the 2u spacebars for that extra pop though.

Looks like this. BS and LS can be split and caps can be stepped, but I’ve never used the 2u BS actually, nor have I used a stepped caps.

Wow, what keycaps are those?

Is that… two sets of Gateron’s machined aluminum caps?

Whatever they are they look especially choice on that Sonnet :ok_hand:

Yep, it’s the Gateron machined aluminum keycaps. Two sets, same or very similar configuration between the two boards so I can easily switch back and forth without having to readjust.

I’ll probably order a third for the Mammoth 75 I have coming. I really like the profile and feel of them.

NovelKeys has the ALUVE set on clearance sale:

There’s also the AluMizu by Wuque that looks pretty sick:

For those who prefer cherry profile keycaps.

As usual excuse my shoddy photography game, but threw GMK Mudbeam on my 3.0 & felt compelled to post it a few places since it is such an under the radar colorway. Not sure why it didn’t get much love when it was in GB, but for me it’s one of my fav GMK sets!

Portable - NuPhy Air75 V2 with Daisy switches and XVX low-profile spherical keycaps. Oh Lenovo, why did you reduce your key travel on the X1Cs from 2.5mm → 1.8mm → 1.5mm → 1.35mm following the path of Apple.

Remixed the Cornehole Case from GitHub to fit my wired corne

I have doubts about the longevity of this case, but my first hybrid wired board is done. The matrix is on a PCB, but the MCU is hand-wired to it and serves as the USB daughterboard as well. Solder was successful except that I missed a single pin on one key and had to go back before sealing her up. Akko SA-L BOW (with five keys borrowed from an earlier purchase of a different colorway), Box Navy switches, Masonite plate, 3D printed case. Bespoke layout, trying to find what’s worked in my previous no-stabs 1800s. Theoretically, I guess PCB-mount stabs were an option, but I’m used to using these boards now and I definitely don’t miss rattly stabs or lubing them.

The real revelation on this one was the POG configuration utility for KMK. Holy crap it made that so very, very easy. I think the only thing I couldn’t figure out how to do was have it hide the flash storage and pretend the Pi Pico is just a keyboard, but that file is easy enough to edit later if I feel a need and still can’t find it in the app.

The side profile is loosely based on certain beamspring boards that had a big flip-open manual compartment, in part because that meant those boards had to feature seams, and the corner blockers are obviously lifted from the HHKB/M0110. That painted detail on the right side of the case is definitely, 100%, why-would-I-lie-to-you intentional, and not a place where a few layers of outer wall came off during some post-print cleanup. The pink paint-pen is good from far, but far from good (seriously amateur hour), though I am amused by the result. Something about knowing that I can replace it whenever I feel like turning my 3D printer on before bed, ironically makes me more likely to leave it until and unless something actually breaks. Repeat after me: “it’s a protoype.”

Great place to take the family. We had a Seattle keyboard meetup you could have swung by yesterday! It was in the Capitol Hill area.
