I guess this also fits here?

Noisy recording, and a little dramatic compared to how it sounds IRL, but the general vibe of heavy, rumbly bottom-outs is correct. Sound stuff is not something Iā€™ve been great at.

The Portico I built over the weekend; mostly about the stab test at the end. (Designer Studio Adaptive stabilizers)

That sounds great. Seriously impressive.

Put new stabs in my old CTRL today:

This time I gave the Durock V3 plate-mount stabilizers a try

They arenā€™t perfect, and I donā€™t think they are quite as good as the screw-in Adaptive ones from Designer Studio, but they are easily the best clip-in stabs Iā€™ve ever used.

Speaking of clip, I did have to clip the bottom to get the sound I wanted - these ones have a single bar-shaped foot protruding from the middle of the bottom of the stem which does make a nice clean clack, but I want quiet for this build. Thankfully, the bar is easy to remove with flush cutters - no more clack!

While these work on the same principle as the Adaptive stabs, the stems arenā€™t the same, and donā€™t have the same level of tightness. Most of these were rattle-free with just a thin coat of 205 on everything, but a couple still had some rattle, which was mostly fixable with a little extra grease. I imagine someone good with stabs could get rid of it easily.

This is an unforgiving chassis with its integrated aluminum plate and clip-in-only compatibility, and still I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever been this happy with how my CTRL sounds and feels. Iā€™m gonna be using it a lot more now.

ā€¦Wherein my Box Navies and I troll 99% of people in the hobby, but I unironically love these heavy clicky monsters.

As expected, this little solenoid running on 3.3v and entombed in PLA plastic doesnā€™t blow anybodyā€™s socks off, but it makes me smile and occasionally giggle like a child, and after your first couple of boards, thatā€™s what Iā€™m here for. If I ever have to crack this board open to solder anything, Iā€™ll move it to the 5v rail and see if it gets any more oomph.

Very nice man! Got that classic lubed Cherry sound & the board is complimenting it IMO! You running your W1 plateless by any chance? Also I gotta say Iā€™ve been falling love with the sound & feel of Cherry switches again myself. I havenā€™t really used any in my builds for awhile since we got flooded with a bunch of really good linears from other manus the past few years. However with the MX2A retooling of Cherryā€™s equipment I got curious how much they improved so I been grabbing them up here & there while the molds are still fresh. I recently built my FLX Virgo with spring swapped & lubed MX Oranges (MX2A donā€™t need filmed IMO, they really tightened up the housing fitment a ton finally) & have been loving it! Anyways awesome build & sounds great man!

Yes itā€™s a plateless build. Thanks! I really enjoy Cherry switches. A lot of linears are perfectly smooth, a tad too smooth for me. I need some feedback when pressing keys, either if it is a felt or audible scratch. Enjoy your MX Oranges

And to keep it going, this is my Keebwerk NASU with an alu plate, L/F Cherry New Nixies and GMK Hi!Viz. Recorded with my MacBook as well.

And the last sound test worthy one: my custom BOLT with a layered stainless steel case. Kailh Box Navies in a 1.5kg heavy case and MT3 Dev/TTY keycaps. Plate is alu.

Very well done. And just in time for my Transition Lite TKL, which is arriving soon.

I am considering MX2A Browns for it. Should be flexy, using a 1.2mm PCB. So it might be a little like yours.

Could you tell me how you lubed those Browns? Which springs were swapped?
