What are you listening to today?

I’ve been listening to a lot of galdive lately. She’s got this fusion of styles that somehow clicks with me. Her vocals as well! Very unique.

Here’s one of her releases.

Mushroomhead has been my go to for the past few weeks, and QWERTY has a pretty cool video as well.

Ooooweeeeee! That sounds mighty fine. Not my cup’o tea exactly, but funny enough to peek my interest more than just a bit. Thank you very much for the suggestion.

Found out my wife had never seen Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. How is that possible? Anyway, been listening to Metric at deafening volumes today.

If you’ve never heard of David Sylvian or his band Nine Horses, well now you have. It’s a bit melancholy for my daily listening but man do I wish I had a voice like this fellow:

Money for All

Revolution, Socialism, read it in a rag - there’s a gun at your head, put the money in the bag.

Between the passing of Klaus Schulze and Vangelis, I’ve been on a bit of an Electronica journey lately… Decided to dig into some of the Tangerine Dream stuff I hadn’t listened to before…especially the live bootlegs (which have official releases now available from TD’s website):

The Range’s latest album ā€œMercuryā€ was released today. I enjoy it.

Just got into paledusk - god fucking damn they are good. They are a kinda prog metalcore band, but with an electronic feel and a lot of weird (but cool) twists on the genre.

This song slay, is probably my favourite, followed by black ice - although it is by no means their heaviest song.

Tackling covers for my next music write up, so I’m jamming to some of my favorites. Lianne did her thing with this one. Absolutely amazing cover.

Still one of my favorite records.

Lyrics

Aice Cooper - Go To Hell

For criminal acts and violence on the stage
For bein’ a brat, refusin’ to act your age
For all of the decent citizens you’ve enraged
You can go to hell

For gamblin’ and drinkin’ alcohol constantly
For makin’ us doubt our parents authority
For choosin’ to be a living obscenity
You can go to hell

You’re something that never should have happened
You even make your grandma sick

You’d poison a blind man’s dog and steal his cane
You’d gift-wrap a leper and mail him to your aunt Jane
You’d even force-feed a diabetic a candy cane
You can go to hell

You’re something that never should have happened
You even make your grandma sick

For criminal acts and violence on the stage
For bein’ a brat, refusin’ to act your age
For all of the decent citizens you’ve enraged
You can go to hell

Alice Cooper is amazing.

Been on a Thin Lizzy kick. Had no idea Whiskey in the Jar is a traditional Irish ballad. Also, I will go out on a limb and say I like the Metallica version even more.

That’s the generation bias. I didn’t know this either until a couple of years ago. My dad told me it was from thin Lizzy when I was a little kid. That burnt into my brain. And about 22 years ago I needed to explain a school buddy of mine that the song isn’t from Metallica. And I guess when I’m a grampa I’ll tell my grand kids that the song isn’t from Rhianna Beeberlake… or that YikYok artists those damn kids are bragging 'bout… on their game boys… and such…

Oh boy, reminiscences and fond memories… you beautiful time machines!

I had this on Amiga as a kid; I honestly don’t remember liking the game itself all that much but man that theme slaps

For no reason what so ever I was reminded of this song.

Also learned it was a cover of the original by World Domination Enterprises. I just remember this one from MTV’s venerable ā€œAmpā€ program.
