It seems like BSUN is a common mfr for lots of names; anyone know them all?
{insert Beavis laugh}
I āupgradedā my Realforce R2 TKL with 55g switches to the PFU 45g silent model and I have to say Iām super glad I did. Now I just need to sell the 55g model.
A few interesting things!
- My first Domikey set, Miami Nights. The colorway is one of my favorite and Iāve wanted to try Domikey for a while so this seemed like the perfect opportunity, seeing as the GMK version is nearly unobtainable. Iām still scrutinizing them but my initial impressions of the quality are good. Maybe not quite up to GMK standards but more than acceptable.
- Keyfirst Bling Purples. Not a clue who made them but good on whoever did. Incredibly smooth, nice sound, and very little stem wobble. I may end up spring swapping these for something a bit lighter but theyāre an outstanding base to work from.
- Gateron Pro Speed Silvers. Super excited about these. The two-stage springs make them incredibly approachable, unlike some other silver switches that can be actuated by looking at them too intensely. Again, incredibly positive first impressions - these remind me of some of TTCās more recent offerings like the Wild and Matrix so weāll see how that plays out once I get them into a board.
I got some the other day and theyāre some of the only stock switches Iāve tried where modding them wouldnāt improve much at all. Good to go.
As they are prelubed, do yours feel a bit overlubed ā like do they feel greasy when just handling them? Mine do and I was just wondering what that was about.
Now that you say something, maybe a touch of greasiness on the stems? Thatās hunting for it though - definitely not like Gateron Caps where itās quite noticeable on the exterior of the switch.
The closest analog that I can think of for lube is Aqua Kings. Definitely a heavier lube but I think itās right on the edge of being enough without being over lubed. Part of me also wonders if the spring feel contributes to that as well. While spring weight feels different, Iām wondering if the two stage spring in conjunction with the thicker lube makes the push feel what it is.
Cool cool. Mine came in bags and I thought maybe this caused excess lube from the stems to splatter around during transit ā especially when being shipped in hot metal containers. I see yours came packaged nice and proper so it might be just how they are. I appreciate the feedback.
I went with the single stage springs, itās neat that you get to choose during purchase, for that exact reason. I wagered Gateronās house lube might make a two stage a little too sluggish for me ā especially for a āspeedā switch.
Got a batch of 107 (was supposed to be 110) Gat OIl Kings & a pack of poron switch films by Kelowna in from Dangkeebs. I gotta send them a email about the missing switches. No big deal & I donāt want the 3 missing switches sent to me. Just want to let them know because AFAIK most vendors count switches by weighing them, so Dangkeebs scale might be getting off.
This is exactly the post that will continue to fuel my paranoia of counting every switch and examining every keycap kit that I buy, lol.
If it makes you feel any better - I order lots of switches, and Iāve found extra switches in a new pack far more often than Iāve found any missing. Over the past five years, I can recall maybe two times that itās happened.
@Rob27shred I love Dangkeebsā sticker illustrations - I need to find somewhere to stick them all! No skateboards or guitar cases laying around, but at some point, the perfect object to sticker-bomb with them will reveal itselfā¦
New switch days are always good days. Finally received my MMD creams. There are theories that they are made by Leobog, and the stems do have a lot of similarities, but the housings are completely different, so iām not going to say much on that until i have more of their switches to compare against.
They do feel really nice, though. About as wobbly as a tecsee zaku, iād say. Pretty smooth because of factory lubing and only some of the switches had some small spring ping. May need to compare sounds between those and NK Creams.
Ooh I had my eye on those, looking forward to your follow up
MMD Greams⦠fix it for you
Totally agree. I think the two stage is potentially an odd pairing with a speed switch but it fits my preference so Iām happy. I certainly wouldnāt be upset if more spring choices became more of a thing with manufacturers.
Akko Jelly Blacks. As usual, Akko doesnāt seem to miss on the packaging! Makes me wonder what theyāre profit margins are or if everyone else is marking up their price. They feel quite light though, hmmm⦠And some 1.25 caps (which was hard to find for some reason).
If any of you know where to buy more singles 1.25 OEM caps. Let me know.
TTC (Fully) Silent Bluish Whites from mechanicalkeyboards dot com; really been looking forward to giving these a try.
How would you compare these to Bobas?
I havenāt done a direct comparison yet, but from memory Iād say these have a more firm top and bottom-out than Bobas, but less-so than something like Box silents. Bump seems pretty comparable to Bobas, maybe not as wide - Iāll do a side-by-side when I get home tonight and give some more detail.
Case and caps for my next build came in yesterday and today
Decided to get a walnut tofu when they restocked after seeing how much @ajoflo praised his, and I had been looking for an excuse to buy MT3 Elvish and this seemed like a great board for them to go with.
I already have all the other parts I need, now itās just a matter of lubing some of my cream switches that have been sitting in a box and deciding between an FR4 half plate or the most flexible CF plate Iāve ever seen.

Good for you bud! Keep us posted.
Arenāt the builtin o-ring standoffs that come with it super neat? I havenāt been able to find them sold separately anywhere.
