I’m glad that you like it. I took a peek at the build post and it looks great. I got the e-white version as well. Right now it has SP Star Magic Girl switches with 62g TX long springs. I haven’t tried any foam yet so I would be interested in your findings should you experiment a bit (referencing your build post).
nice! I don’t know those switches, will check them out.
I’ve put all the foam in there
I like it, but I get it’s not everyone cup of tea…I’ll record some sound tests and and then start taking it apart again removing the foam, and changing the plate and putting the foam back in…but I’m guessing that’ll take a bit of time
but man, I love typing on it! Even with two different switches installed
makes me want to work
It’s a very interesting green. It’s a middle ground between hunter green and OD green. I’m working today to find the perfect keycap set for it. I’ll post photos at some point
Looking forward to it!
Rimuru reincarnated as a keycap! Two of my hobbies combined, love it. I definitely want to plan a build it. Blue PC or acrylic maybe?
I’m really going to have to try Topre one day… All these keebs are making me curious about what it feels like.
I recommend it, I used to be a huge MX linear fan and now I only have topre boards lol. If you have any questions feel free to PM me
I’ll take the 87U, thank you
Don’t — it might ruin MX for you.
Another random set of springs. Not much info about them other than they are 50g but they seem to be quite decent so far.
Also a set of gateron phantom reds. I’ve always been curious about them because nobody really seems to be using them or talking about them or anything. So far they seem to be really smooth and have very minimal stem wobble. The sound is kind of similar to KS-9 gaterons but with a little deeper tone.
Some more Switch Oddities and some budget-build supplies.
A buddy’s WFH partner needs a quiet pink keyboard oh the cheap to replace another that’s on the fritz. The X77 doesn’t come in pink, so it’s time to get crafty TaeKeyboards style!
As for switches, I’ll be porting those over from the other keeb - some silents made from leftovers. Gat silent brown stems in Outemu housings.
The old keeb still functions, but its backlighting has spazzed-out. Given the time of year I feel ESD is a likely culprit - but it could just be a cheap PCB, being a Redragon board. I went with a CIY to replace it for a couple reasons - mostly because I’ve not had one die on me yet, but also because this model has ESD protection where the Redragon did not.
Also, partner loves RGB and works in low light - so pudding caps seemed like a natural choice.
Edit: maybe a mistranslation; not metal. Plastic but paintable.
Another vintage keyboard day for me today. Not a lot of details about it, but it has some very special things about it, which is the reason why i bought it. Not only does it use SMK 2nd generation MX mount switches of the white clicky variety, but it’s also using doubleshot keycaps that are around as thick as PBTFans keycaps but are not made by cherry/GMK as far as i know. that just makes them even more special to me. PBTFans on the left for comparison on the last photo.
Interesting! It kinda looks like you can see a little gripper tooth inside the stem of the older cap, presumably to index with the little ridge often seen at the top of mx stems. Does it sort of “click” home when you mount the cap?
Oh, i didn’t notice that at first, but yes. They do click/snap in when you mount them on the SMK switches but not with MX-style switches. Or maybe i can’t feel it because they are a pretty tight fit as is.
And note to myself or anyone else thinking about doing it : don’t open SMK 2nd gen switches. They are near impossible to put back together again. what a pain. all i wanted to do was to linearize one of them by removing the clickleaf. wow.
Lubed a set of 60 linears. Never in my life again.
Postal items from China.
This is Gatheron. He is tactile. He is the structure of the CAP.
I don’t know anything else.)))
A lot of photos will be under the spoiler.
Here I bought stabilizers and grease, plus oil. From DESIGNER STUDIO. Creators of Graphite Gold Switch and White Jade Switch.
a lot of photos under the spoiler. The collection is interesting. Straight good. The staple on 6.25 is slightly crooked, but all the staples on 2 are even.
Daye mould classic blue
There is a keycap space for 7 pure abs. The thickness is slightly more than that of the GMK. It is straight in length, not a banana. There are all straight spaces, except for one blue one at 6.25, it is a little crooked.
Again, a lot of photos under the spoiler.
Today’s another vintage day for me. A replacement keyboard panel for a Toshiba T1600. It’s using linear white Alps SKFM (or Alps common mount low profile) and nice, thick doubleshot keycaps. It’s also using Alps ‘SKFL compact’ for the slim uppermost keys. It appears to be unused, and this was also stated in the listing, but it’s a little dirty and yellowed from storage. The switches feel pretty smooth but a little pingy. i would even go as far as to say that these feel smoother than the average MX style switch.
