Summary
When measuring, I did not get 4mm.
Another batch of weird switches.
XMI beige switches. The usual PC top, POM stem, nylon bottom combo, but at least in a pretty, beige colorway. Pretty sure they are made by Meirun or Aflion, using the infamous “lin neng” factory. A little wobble on the stem, but quite smooth and they have a quite decent sound.
Also some “Aiguox” Moon/Yellow switches. I’m not fully sure yet, but i think they are their own Manufacturer or at least have their own Molds somewhere. They don’t really match anything i have. Another PC top, Nylon bottom POM stem combo. Very little stem wobble, very smooth thanks to a slight factory lube application, but sadly 3 pin only.
And some “feker matcha” POM long pole linear stems that were sold separately. i would say that they are made by Aflion, since my complete feker matcha switches match some aflion switches down to the smallest detail, but these stems are a little different. a little bit longer and the shape of the bottom of the pole is slightly different. maybe just a different mold, but yeah.
I feel like we’re sitting in the same place. Since we buy the same thing at the same time)))))))))
I’m liking this SA keycaps sample I got from KBDFans, I’d say it’s worth the $2 I spent.
Although it’s just R1, I liked the shape and they sound pretty nice, the letters are crisp (Double shot ABS), though it seems some of the legends are off-center, not sure if it’s just an illusion.
Looking forward to purchase my first SA/MT3 set.
I like the XMI, thought the springs would be to heavy but the work nice. Only thing I don’t like is that they are a bit wobbly when pressed down compared to my Ink Box Pink.
Here’s my little comparison between the two. (silver keeb is xmi) XMI on silver Gateron Ink Box Pink on black - YouTube
Measured new bodices. After all, this is considered the most important modification of version 3.
But they are not that thick.
story
Hello~ everyone!
It’s Monday again, and today CuXiu brings an empty Mongolian switch co-branded with Emogogo.
As for why it is called the Kongmeng axis,
The blue mountain locks the mist, the mist surrounds the green onions, and the axis is empty. As the name suggests, our axis name is taken from the sentence “the water is shining and the sky is good, and the mountains are empty and rainy”. The base of the Kongmeng axis is clear sky blue, the top cover is misty white, and the center axis is light grass green. “It’s good to be sunny when the water is shining, and the mountains are empty and rainy”, so it is called “Kongmeng”.
Material Top: PA66
Bottom shell: PA66
Stem: POM
Spring: double-stage gold-plated 20mm length
Trigger pressure 55g
Bottom pressure 63.5g
Total stroke 3.6mm
Factory lube
Why does it have a Gateron top?
I didn’t understand anything at all.
I have been reading and watching Chinese sites for half a year now. And all I understood is that it is necessary to make a ChatGPT for translation as soon as possible.
It is difficult not only to get a translation, but how to search for the logic of words.
Got KNC Preference switches. Very red! So far I like them a lot. A few inconsistently lubed so far, but nothing too bad. Good sound, full travel, low wobble, standard spring, medium weight. I like them.
Also recived my AKB OGR board. Such a chonker. I’m trying to think outside the Dolch box for this build.
I think the AKB in that dual colorway is super versatile. You could go loud with a set like Retrocast or the other direction. A deep red matches both grey and black. You have lots of options (which could be a problem! lol.)
Not by mail but pick this up in person from local Grainger branch. It’s degreaser from Vertrel. Supposed to have same or similar stuff as Vertrel XF so, if it works as expected, this is the easier to use, cheaper alternative.
By cheaper, I mean not much will be wasted by evaporating. 15ml Vertrel XF dropper bottle cost $10 and lost most of it by evaporation. This 8oz spray cost $40 and should allow me to degrease quite a few buckets of switches.
UPDATE: Found on the spray can:
Will attack polystyrene, polycarbonate, ABS, and acrylic.
So don’t use on those. I’ll be using it only to degrease POM switch stems which I presume will be safe to use on. Not sure about the plastic tub I’m using though.
2023 is the year of 60’s for me, and today I received a lovely pair that I think are considered classics in the community!
2022 was my 60th. As to 60%, I’m all 60%.
Fjell is excellent for desktop deadlifting. Best sounding combo I’ve tried with it so far was New Nixies on FR4 + plate foam + polyfill.
My 60% boards are some of the best sounding boards in my collection. My collection betrays my attempt to identify as an 65% Kind of Guy…
Haven’t tried a brass plate yet, but I have a copper plate in my Iron165 and fond that the U4Ts I have in there sounds and feel way better in that board, but it could be because of how stiff it is.
Both boards looks great!
MM Studio Class 65! Built with Zaku tactiles and went plateless. It’s so good, gonna slap SA metaverse on it when that arrives.
Cherry Blacks and an alu plate in the Frog is still my all-time favorite MX combo. Enjoy!
Damn those are thicc
NightFox from Kono. Review/Rant: Can’t believe this board was being sold at $189. Build flimsily, lightweight, hollow sounding, cheap keycaps, North-facing, topped with terrible switch. Should’ve been priced at $39 instead.
What was I expecting? I was expecting Drop ALT level of quality. Drop ALT is priced at $110. This was priced at $189. I paid $29 + $18 shipping and tax which is the correct price although I’d never have got this if I knew the quality sucked this bad.
Didn’t I at least get a case out of it? If the case was OK as is, I’d have just licked my wound and move on. But they ruined the case by adding foam bottom tailored to fit only this keyboard. I am going to have to cut it up to make my 60%s fit.
My Opinion: Stay away from Kono.
UPDATE: I’m going to first use a plier to destroy the switches to get the PCB out and use it as a in-use switch tester until I have time to desolder the remains of destroyed switches. As a $30 switch tester, it’s fair value .
Sorry and Thank you. I was thinking about purchasing one. I’ll pass.
