I need to dive a bit deeper into lubing in general. I bought a ton of Krytox 104 when I joined the hobby and have that on my Trash Pandas and it works just well enough to remove the noise of the spring pinging, but not effect the depth of the tactility. I am curious to try something more substantial since the Mints will be going into the M0lly when that shows up next year.
Looking into slightly heavier lube would be nice for getting rid of the pinging on my creams as well.
Yeah 104 is a bit thin for tactile switches IMO, but if itās working for you for now nothing wrong with that. Check out Novelkeys to get Krytox GPL20X G00 greases & Christolube greases. Then Switchmod for Tribosys 3203/4 greases & Krytox GPL 204 G0 grease if you live in NA.
I used 3204 on my Pandas, and had zero tactility reduction - partially because I lubed, well, everywhere but the feet/leaf.

The M0110A keyboard would have come with the Macintosh Plus, but I got it on its own. Itās the made-in-Japan one with Mitsui switches. This one is in very nice shape compared to the M0110 I posted earlier. I feel like the Mitsui switches are noticeably lighter than the cream (?) Alps ones from the M0110.
The only thing I donāt like about these boards is that they both have locator dots on the D and K keys rather than F and J!
Yeah thatās an old Apple/Mac standard that drives me nuts as well!
It gives the Mac the middle finger. And I would actually prefer this convention since my index finger is kind of calloused.
Got a couple of artisans that go pretty well with GMK Camping yesterday (the two in the middle). Jelly Key Shangri La Flows. Didnāt want to spend that much on them when the GB was running, but glad I was able to pick them up secondhand now.
Hahaha! That is true, never thought about it that way! Iām a carpenter/painter so the callous thing is kinda a moot point for me as basically all my fingers & most of my hands are calloused pretty good. Thatās why I like bars or scoops (preferable bars for functionality though) since the give you more surface area to feel the homing keys when you got fingers like us. I donāt think the the D & K as homing keys is a terrible ideal, but the little nipples donāt really give me enough feedback to truly home with them, well that & Iām so used to F & J as my homing keys.
Nice, that does look dope with Camping! Never thought about it (since I donāt got SA or GMK Camping yet), but you are right JKās landscape caps fit the theme perfectly!
I would think that it only would take a minute to acclimate to new homing keys, as opposed to the world of hurt trying to adjust to ortho or Dvorak.
Iām waiting for the best innovation, which would be a joy buzzer for the homing keys. LOL. I like my boards fully tactile. Bonus for a separate audio cue, āyou have liftoffā or whatever, maybe something piezo-electric.
Seriously, deep dish is good, homing bars are good. Itās all good. But a ramp up would be cool.
Then there are those that eschew homing keys entirely. I donāt even know what to say other than inclusivity is an ideal, to each their own, tolerance is good, and I donāt understand them at all.
The indicators on D/K wouldnāt be a problem if I didnāt switch boards so often. But on the other hand, I was surprised how easy it was to type on the M0110 keyboard, which has no indicators of any kind, so maybe I donāt actually need them as much as I think I do. I can always just switch the caps I guess, since I rarely look at the keys anyway.

The adjustment to ortho is not too bad if it is not a split board. The shifting of the rows is weird the first week of use but it you are on it regularly enough the only tough part is adjusting to the 1u modifiers.
I had the same experience trying ortho out. I can pretty seamlessly switch between my NIU mini or Letās Split & my staggered boards now that Iāve gotten used to 1u modifiers & where everything is on my layers. Been thinking of grabbing a Preonic or board with a similar layout soon to give 60% ortho a try!
I would have much preferred getting a Preonic, but if you are wanting to try something similar within a reasonable timeframe I can highly recommend the JJ50. I use it for work and other than the unusual firmware loader it uses I have had no trouble with it at all. It is a lot more solid of a case/pcb than I had anticipated.
Where did you get your JJ50 kit at? I just checked out your post on here of when you got it & it is similar enough for sure. Also is the 2, 2U (I think) spacebars layout the only layout option, or can you make it like the Preonic with 1, 2u space & 5, 1u keys on either side of the spacebar?
You can do a 1u spacebar if you want to. I personally have it setup for 2u because I naturally rest my left thumb where R5C5 would go because of DotA and using Alt pretty frequently. I purchased it from KPRepublic where it was sold originally.
