What did you order or think about ordering?

I saw that one. Nice grab

Prototype case got here I only ordered the left side just in case it was unusable.

So, overall it turned out pretty well, but a few minor tweaks to be made.

  • I want to drop the integrated plate and PCB down 1 mm because it is sitting higher than I want.
  • The plate is a little too flexy at 1.5mm thick when assembling. Have to put the switches in first and then drop the PCB onto them. May make the plate 3mm thick and then have 1.5 mm cutouts where the switches clip in.

I did that in garden-variety PLA on an Alps FRL 1800, and it worked decently. I’d think your boards could handle it very well.

I am about to sell my Iced Kara. Tbh, that keyboard makes me sad because it symbolizes Rama’s fall. I don’t know about quality but Rama aesthetics/designs were great. M60-A and U80-B are classics.

I ordered a Neo Ergos in white. Going to try out Keygeek Y2s and HMX Retro Js.

Iced was the original colorway I had way back from the first run.

Keyboard adjacent, literally, but I’m taking a thirty dollar gamble on an eBay Rollermouse Red Plus with a cut USB cord but little visible wear.

On the theory that the interface between accounting and reality is basically, well, stupid, I am hoping that this lot of cut-cord devices was just written off for some reason and will be easy to repair. I have always found them interesting, but sure as heck not four hundred bucks worth of interesting. The corporate accessibility tax is a helluva thing.

For real, it’s crazy the markup that gets put on product when being sold to big corporations. Even though things are usually being bought in bulk in those situation to boot. Although the corps are no angels so I say stick it to them LOL! At least until the day they actual operate in good faith, but we all know that’ll never happen.

Yup, and in the US at least, many of the ergonomic and alternative input devices depend on companies just paying whatever for the small percentage of employees who request them as ADA accommodations, so like with medical devices, there’s just no incentive to price them normally for the home consumer. Even with the investment in tooling they would’ve needed to make, and being a company with small scale, there’s no way this thing should cost twice what a Unicomp Model M costs, to pick another small company making niche input devices.

Cough, cough, Matias half qwerty pro keyboard, cough cough.

I know this is not the gist of thread but seeing Matias always gives me ptsd. First mechanicals I ever had were the Matias quiet click Mac boards. I paid what seemed like a king’s ransom (very naive) for the board and thought it was so amazing at first that I quickly bought a second. A few weeks later I had two duds with constant chatter and all they could do for me was tell me to run a playing card between the keycaps. It worked for a day or so but that was all.

I gave them away about 5 years ago and tried them for the first time in a long time and they were so gritty feeling.

Just a little matias aside.

I almost bought the exact same Matias keyboard! They looked fantastic! I was seriously considering it and had it in my cart and everything, but asked a friend about mechs on a whim and here I am now: happier with my keyboards, but with a significantly lighter wallet!

Sorry to hear you had such a bad long term experience with them. Seems like I dodged a bullet with it…

I won a raffle spot for the SneakerLAH x TGR Type 1 ‘82 (black)

Should I pay it? What you guys think?

LOL you actually got in on that raffle, that is hilarious. I didn’t look that hard into it but is the raffle for that TGR board that has that shoe sole wedge on it or is there more included like actual shoes.

Yeah, it’s just the board. I didn’t sign up for the shoe. I hesitate b/c I didn’t realize they weren’t made yet. Says it ships in July of next year. Not a fan of that idea. But it’s a pretty fun design

I’ve only joined one “preorder” this year and it was something very special. Not sure this is worth it though.

I mean if it isn’t a burden financially for you I say why not. It’s a TGR so it’ll definitely hold its value & you could always just sell it later on if you dislike the board for some reason.

Just make sure it is the right size before buying. What is that, a size 10?

MTNU Mitclan…

Didn’t know that this was even going to be a thing until randomly seeing it on Novelkeys. Mitclan is top 3 GMK sets ever for me. MTNU and MT3 are my favorite keycap profiles for MX, so this was a no brainer.

Oh I think it’s pretty cool, if it’s in your budget! But I also totally get not wanting to wait that out. Group buys/preorders are kind of tiring

The Matias were well-known for their problems with reliability.

But their “Tactile Pro” or whatever switches actually were good tactile/clickies. Not exactly ALPS, but they were comparable.

Tried one at a meetup that had been cleaned up and carefully lubed. It was a very forceful, consistent and tactile presence that was respectable. If only the boards were more reliable.

[Ironically, the “Tactile Pro” were basically click switches, and the “Quiet Click” were tactiles.]

PBS Aperture Priority for the Kunai, as it has become an in-stock item in many stores. However, I’m not sure; The price is relatively steep for the 40s set, as compared to e.g. PBS Crispin, and tbf I’m still relatively happy with MT3 WoB. I’m itching to try out PBS, though, but I’m not sure if Aperture Priority is good value for money. After all, what I would like is a simple PBS WoB with a similar font as PBS AP, yet without the photography gimickery. Hmpf.
