What is on your desk today?

Made this case for the ut47, super happy with how it all came together, although some stuff has a hard time clipping into the pom plate with hotswap sockets, so an alu plate is on the way. Also a huge fan of the ttc bluish whites, these things feel and sound awesome with just a little lube on the stem sliders and the top housings.

Wow! This looks great. It is giving me Star Road from Super Mario World vibes.

This explains where I’m at sometimes in terms of keeb satisfaction.

All current keyboards: 0/10 buy more

In all seriousness, I think the most expensive boards feel the best to own, but the cheap boards that you are comfortable beating the crap out of feel the best to use. I’m sure this is a bit reductive, and ignores a vast minutia of preference, but there is truth in it for me. It’s like the love you have for a beater car or the old t-shirt / pair of jeans that you refuse to throw away.

I’ve been messing around with some Bluish Whites for a few days and really enjoy them so far – great placement and level of tactility for me. I’ll have to lube them up soon. I’m probably going to try 3204 first (at least on the top housings) to settle that high pitched clack down a bit. What type of lube did you use?

I used 205g0 on the stem sliders and the top housings, and they practically turned into a silent switch. I think 204 should give you the same results too.

Acrylic Tofu with a set of Frankenswitch I named Slapstick. It’s made with Cherry MX Blue stem in BSUN housing. Slapstick sounds like Cream but feels like somewhere between a clicky and an ALPS tactile. You can hear the faint click if you press slowly but not while in use because bottom out slapping sound overwhelms it. Liking it so far.

Finally finished a rebuild of this board. I was being lazy about lubing new switches!

SP-50 case, Nyquist Rev 3 PCBs, Gat milky yellow switches lubed with 3204, GMK Mondrian.

MF68 rebuild I finished today. New QMK compat PCB, switches are Gat milky yellow lubed with 3204, SA-P Snow Caps.

This was actually the first custom build I wanted to do when I first got into keebs, but I pivoted away to make it with a sandwich-style case. Finally got around to doing what I originally wanted to do.

I basically followed this guide that I found months ago.

Here’s what it sounds like: Vocaroo | Online voice recorder

Chonky. Huge :100: on how the milky’s compliment the floating key design. Clean af.

MF68 was my gateway to mechanicals and do I have a soft spot for it. Plus excellent keycap compatibility. I love this.

I joined Saka68 because it was cheap enough and reminded me of the MF68.

Same! I got in on Ikki68 Aurora, and I have my custom steel sandwich version (which I am actually selling now). I think I’ll always have a soft spot for this layout.

It’s tempting to figure out a way to convert these and sell them. This thing is solid, and sounds good. I think I like it more than I do the steel one. If/when I learn how to design my own PCBs, I’d upgrade this one with USB-C, put some budget but good linears on it, and sell other people their gateway to mechanicals

2009 Magic Keyboard, on my desk for secret reasons :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I would be remiss not to mention these keys have a pleasing, snappy tactile event that’s slightly addicting.
