What is on your desk today?

Also, I ordered an extenstions for unAlice to support Tsangan and stepped caps without using novelties, and it arrived today with the caps laying perfectly in row, flat vacuumed sealed onto a piece of cardboard inside of a decent box with brown paper for padding. This is all new since the last few times I’ve ordered. I wonder if they’re doing this for SA caps as well. Maybe its time for me to order a custom SA-P set

Frog TKL with Apollo88 hotswap pcb. Concrete Jungle Deadline AirC keycaps. TTC Matrix switches.

The PC plate actually allows me to see the LEDs under the switches. A bit odd. I might try this with the aluminum plate some day.

How do those caps feel? Been curious about those and their durability.

I really like the way they feel. They are very thick and feel premium for sure.

I tried to scratching off a legend from an ISO keycap. Scratching as hard as I could with my fingernail did nothing to the keycap or legend. You cannot feel the legends on the caps.

I’m using my CherryB Neo87 TKL today with JTK Griseann. It was a rough GB with like no updates, but the board itself is pretty legit. It’s a nice implementation of the F1-8x mounting system and it’s quite pleasant to type on. I’ve been forcing myself to use this board more often before I decide whether to keep or sell it, and it’s really growing on me (I can just hear my wife groaning at that sentence ).

Griseann is such a sexy keyset and the tripleshot molding means I don’t have to worry about wearing away the sublegends. JTK does have some ugly legends on the modifiers, but the real crime is the disgusting texture they had when they were brand new. I couldn’t tell if that’s just how they’re textured or if they had some kind of coating or what, but it felt very not good. After a month or so they feel much better, though.

Also pictured is the Kaleidos “Scorpion Fruit” black lipstick. It goes hard.

How do they sound compared to ABS and PBT keycaps?

Definitely deeper, less clacky than ABS. Similar to PBT, but they don’t dampen the switch sound as much. I’d say a good middle ground. Very thick to refine the switch sound but more resonant so as not to overly muffle the switch.

That sounds really nice, right up my alley. Thanks!

I wouldn’t say they are drastically different from ABS or PBT, but maybe somewhere between the two. The first thing I noticed about them on my initial type test was the glassy smooth and slick texture, which I really like. I honestly didn’t even think about the sound. So, they must be in the ballpark of standard caps.

In contrast, the PC caps I have from Signature Plastics are extremely clacky. I don’t know if it’s the fact that they’re OEM profile or that the plastic is somewhat thinner, but it’s certainly a significantly different sound from ABS and PBT. I like them a lot as well, largely in part due to their texture. The dry polycarbonate texture on those caps feels perfect to my fingers. However, I would hesitate to recommend the SP caps to anyone who is overly bothered by higher-pitch noises on the keyboard

Today I’m rocking the KFE CE with diamond polished MX Blacks on an UHMWPE plate and 1mm CEM-3 Galatea PCB. It’s a pretty soft typing experience overall, but not too flexy or anything. I typically prefer half plates but the UHMWPE feels really nice and has a lovely muted sound to it.

Edit: I forgot to say that this 10u bar sounds sooooo damn good :ok_hand:

You’ll have to forgive me, I have a new toy that I can’t stop playing with.

Got the python script running locally so I can make my own files for the screen :kissing_cat:

Wow. How did they cram a screen AND a speaker inside a tiny switch?
Just kidding.
